  1. I know it firsthand... on PDA Sales Fall for Third Year in Row · · Score: 1

I bought a PDA over a year ago and I thought I would be using it constantly, well I was wrong. I found that the hand recognition software wasn't THAT good and the little keyboards are exactly what they are "LITTLE keyboards." So I've not used it in months and I agree with most people saying that they have most of the essential functionality on their cell phones. Has snyone looked at the upcoming cell phones from overseas? They are even starting to run linux with managing software for email, appointments, and so on. I think the days of the PDA are almost done.

You are correct on the X.org. It's nice to have it in action on Ubuntu finally.

  3. Personal Exp. on Why Is The Ubuntu Hoary Beta Release A Milestone? · · Score: 2

I've been using Ubuntu for the last 5 months now and I can say that the new Live CD is excellent. There were a lot of rough edges in the get-go, but it's all coming together. I tried using some KDE distros to begin with and I found them to be too involved with impressing the eye. Gnome in Ubuntu is set up very well with enough to look at to make you feel at home (such as in a windows/mac environment), but only so much so that you can do what you need to do and get it done fast. BTW, the article was not a very good one. Go to the ubuntu website (http://www.ubuntulinux.com) and check it out for yourself if you're curious.

I'm really happy to see this article. I've had programming classes in college and you can be caught for cheating the same way software patents work, if you use the same method or logic to do something. People need to understand that when there's a better way of doing things, everyone should not be strangled for finding and using that method.

  6. Re:Where's the money going? on Competition to Build the Space Shuttle's Successor · · Score: -1, Redundant

ShuttleOne counted as a huge stepping stone to orbital vehicles, as you can see in their newer ventures toward such a project. Look at Virgin, they've already been making plans to team up and make sub-orbital and soon orbital flights. So it does have quite a bit to do with building orbital vehicles.

Thank you for the link. Though, I was speaking about any space travel. Rockets don't really make for a "space program"...in that case, if it did...telecommunications companies would say "look at our awesome space program."

  8. Where's the money going? on Competition to Build the Space Shuttle's Successor · · Score: 2, Interesting

After ShuttleOne went up for backing as little as $20 million, is it just me or is NASA throwing around too much money to make this happen? I'd like to see someone else make the new crew vehicle and sell it back to NASA. I guess the other side of the coin is the German's saying Mars by 2009. *shrug* I guess when you have nothing substantial in your space program in the past, you've got nothing to lose with ridiculous goals for the future?

  9. Still... on Secret Kazaa Documents Revealed in Court · · Score: 4, Interesting

I'm still amazed that the people in charge of companies like Sharman, etc. think that chocking their software full of crap programs that infect and make peoples' pcs run poorly (to say the least) is the correct way to go. I guess it just shows that in the end, a proper p2p program needs to be open sourced. It seems the only way we'll get something people will want (want is emphasized) to use. It takes real people to make software to be used by real people I guess.

is it safe to assume that they can't cash in the stock for so much time? I wonder if they thought that people might take the earnings of one great idea and leave with the money. "So long and thanks for all the cash." Talk about a nice early retirement.
