    --Oooh, you play with fire man! You shouldn't be assigning ports 1025 unless root. Usually I pick a higher-numbered set and use it all the time, like 32110. For ssh forwarding news and mail, I use 32110 and 32119.

    Putty is essential for when they call YOU over to fix their computer, and you bring your trusty laptop (running Linux) with you. Always a good idea to carry a crossover Ethernet cable, and maybe a USB -> Ethernet adapter as well.

    --My first virus was on a 286 with no modem. Form virus, on a 3.5" floppy. Don't just think you're safe, scan the computer regularly and PROVE IT.

    --Ext2 is fine for speed... Until you have to fsck. On small filesystems (~500MB or less?) it's probably not that bad, but you wouldn't want to base your whole system on it. Personally I use reiserfs with 'notail' in the mount options as a good tradeoff of speed and reliability.

    --Note that resierfs v3 is the only version available right now for the stable Linux kernel; I don't even know why they bothered testing v4, because it's only in 2.6 - and alpha code, at that.

    --Reiserfs (v3.x) speed is fine if you use "notail" in the mount options. AFAIK, Reiserfs is the only one that can actuall *save space* when lots of small files are involved - at the expense of speed. Mount the fs with notail, and things speed up quite a bit.

    --Yeah, I saw pretty much all the movies listed where they said the dots appeared, but Underworld is the 1st movie where I *noticed* them flashing. It bugged me too, I thought there was a problem with the film.

    --Agreed, until we hear an official public announcement everything is up in the air. Personally I won't put stock in anything I hear (as far as articles like this go) until the 1st episode is in the can and on its way to distributors. Until they finish the 1st part of the final product, ANYTHING can change.
