--Ya know it's ironic when Wesley was such an annoying little dweeb in the series, and now Slashdotters are saying that he could have "saved" the movie!
(Wil, you're on my Friends list bro. Sorry they cut your scenes.)
--Yeesh. Gates McFadden was a hottie up until First Contact or so. When I was watching Nemesis I caught myself thinking: "Well Deanna Troi is still Hot (hey, I'd kiss her!), but Doc Crusher is starting to look like somebody's grandma!"
--Most of the "main" Trek characters that have "died" in-series, have come back in one way or another:
Spock Tasha Yar (Romulan) Dax Data (b-4) Janeway (different timeline)
Not returning: Kes, from Voyager Kirk Khan (we KNOW he's dead, but O what an excellent job R.Montalban did with him!)...and God rest his soul, DeForrest Kelley, as Bones.
--Actually I didn't think Nemesis "sucked" at all! After hearing all the bad reviews, I went in with low expectations - and it kind of shocked me how much I *liked* it. Tom Hardy really nailed his role, I thought the plot as a whole was the best thing since the Borg movie and Khan, and there was the loss of a main character - which is nearly UNHEARD OF in Trek.
--On the whole, I thought they did an excellent job - except for the *stock* Gil Hibben knife. But then again I'm a fan of TOS, and a part-time knife collector. The ship design alone was worth the price, as compared to the cheesy 80's - 90's Enterprise. I'm hoping for more movies like this last one, only they should keep getting better as they go along - and not be afraid to try new stuff. (Just FORTHELOVAGOD, don't give us another fkg "Microsoft Joystick" to pilot the Enterprise with!)
--I did a potato battery for a science project once. Don't forget that after a while, the potatos dry out, and also need to be replaced before they rot...
--Yep. I was happier with Earthlink than my local $10 dialup, back when I had to use a modem. Didn't mind paying the $15 extra as long as the connections were good - and they were.
--Now I'm stuck with fkg SBC Ameritech for DSL - at $60 a month for 1.2Mbps. They even bought Yahoo.:(
--When cell-phone companies start providing broadband Internet at reasonable prices, *then* I'll buy one, and get the hell off SBC - they've been nothing but a pain to deal with, on the phone.
--Yep. I don't think they should be attempting this with MAGNETIC storage tech. We already have 7200 RPM disks that are failing in a year. Let's go to the next level, people...
--They should just scrap the in-between stuff and focus on making a 10GHz processor with low heat output and low energy usage, that OBTW runs Linux / *BSD better than WinBlows.:b
--I heard about this around 10:30am Central, *just* after I woke up. First things that popped into mind: "How many were lost?" (7) and "Terrorism?" (probably not) and "I hope this doesn't cause an international incident" (prognosis for right now is better than I had hoped, at least from the "official" Israel reports.)...God bless the astronauts, and keep the rest of them safe in the future.
--BTW, I hope they launch an *extensive* investigation into NASA's current MO, and upgrade the whole shebang for more safety and efficiency. They need some kind of failsafe to preserve these people's lives if disaster strikes.
--I'm looking for the last Slashdot story where an independent agency was deriding NASA's latest plan for a new orbiter, because NASA hasn't come up with anything FEASIBLE for years, and is wasting Billions of $$. NASA should be called on the carpet for this, and MAJOR CHANGES need to happen now.
--Also, please pray for the families that are directly affected by this tragedy (loss of family members) and try to comfort those that are indirectly affected (shock and sadness.)

--I ended up taking the "corrosion" link off my website 'cuz I didn't want them getting any more hits off me. Elitist punks... They'd rather delete my article contributions than discuss why the idea presented might be wrong!
--Tending to agree, but IMNSHO M.Sirtis is still quite hot.

--LMAO... Now THAT'S thinking outside the box!!
--AOL should start selling some of their excess modems to people overseas, or on Ebay.

>> Wouldn't running the tests twice be a better way to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen?
--This is pretty much what Mainframes do... Only they do it WHILE the test / application is running.

Man it sucks not to have mod points some days, but then again I've already posted in this thread.
--You just made my Friends list, bro. +1 Insightful.
--Sigh... And here I was just reading that NASA wanted to resurrect the Teacher In Space program.
--After this terrible tragedy, I guarantee you won't be hearing about THAT anymore, in fact probably not for the next *decade* or so.
