How much longer do you think this argument will hold up? I only have a desktop at home, you don't see me bitching about how I can't get to my data when the power's out...
Koster created virtual worlds with UO and SWG that are unlike anything that exists today--particularly the completely directed experience that is WoW 1-59.
Not to mention he's one of the few developers trying to let players "become the actual content" and "effect the world."
I could play all of WoW and never interact with anyone outside of my guild. Koster's worlds throw everyone together, force dependency, and say "you figure it out." I'd take that over the "shared single player" of WoW any day.
You're being pretty short-sighted if you think this is a trade-off most people don't want to make.
Let's poll the average office worker: how many of you have emailed a document to yourself? Ok, how many of you have used SSH or SFTP? Exactly.
All services have a trade-off like this. I go out to a restaurant, even though they could piss in my food, because I don't have time to cook tonight and odds are nothing horrible will happen.
Smarter people aren't basing their decisions on current (temporary) trends.

It'd be cheaper in the long run, and less complex. And it keeps the primary advantage an orbital telescope has over an Earth-bound one: almost no atmosphere to get in the way.
Wow and I was using this, because Jeffrey Zeldman told me to. Time to switch to Delicious and never use anything this company ever makes again. Fail.

Um...it could be that it's a major software release 6 years in the making from one of the largest software companies in the world. Maybe.
Microsoft's just doing their part to keep the PC hardware industry from stagnating.

What are you talking about??? This feature alone makes Vista a must-buy!
What's wrong with being in a minority? Niche is the future for these games--no one can really afford to compete at WoW's level. Case in point: Eve.

Except 20,000 players is more than 128.
Although EVE doesn't have the "personality" Freelancer did...
It's harder than you think.
Europe, eh?...You know what else is in Europe, don't you? ;)
Um TB already has tabs. So does outlook and most other email clients.
Maybe it's just me, but when I open TB, I see a vertical listing of tabs, and you click on one of those tabs, it updates the window below.
Or am I see thing things again.
If this is podcasting then Captain Immy had it down a long time ago.
