Nowadays we're seeing weather patterns that used to be 500 year events every 3-5 years, and 100 year events every 2-3 years.
It's basically all the excess energy (which has been referred to as Global Warming) dumping out.
It doesn't care about your political beliefs.
It doesn't care about your excuses for doing nothing.
It just is.
Admittedly, it can be confusing for people in the NE of North America, who are dealing with the melting of Greenland dumping a lot of cold water that used to be ice sheets into the Atlantic Conveyor Belt, not understanding that this makes their "personal" weather colder, as a result of the world getting hotter.
An easier way to view it is this: You can fix it now, by converting all existing coal plants to cogeneration (doubles the energy output, same coal input) and not building new ones and investing around $2 Trillion (yes, $2,000,000,000,000.00) in making all new energy systems with more efficient electric vehicles (cheaper to operate and maintain) and all new energy solar and wind.
Or you can wait until 2020 and then spend around $25 Trillion to do the same thing.
The choice is yours. But it is a Choice. And you are Making it, even if you do nothing. Nothing is a choice too.
I mostly listen to free podcasts from around the world, buy DVDs from the artists themselves (then they get 1/2 the money instead of 0.001 percent), and the rest is that old shibboleth Comcast.
Once 40 Gbps Internet rolls out in Seattle, I'll ditch them. Got used to that at work. We even have 3 100 Gbps ports, but those are more expensive.
Been downsizing the physical screens, going for higher energy efficiency 32 inch LCD HDTV and monitors.
If I could get a $20 a month 20 Gbps package like most first world nations, with basic soccer TV and use HDTV antenna for local broadcasts (higher resolution over the air signal than cable), I'd do it.
Ha. I pay 1/10th the price of gas to get 100 percent green electricity from hydro, wind, and solar. I also own four solar panels. I work at one of the top five greenest universities in the World. I ride an all-electric all-green-power bus.
Face it, the world's changing, Grandpa.
We're leaving you with your 18th Century whale oil and kerosene lamps. Keep whining about buggy whips.
Yeah, but your language sounds like people are gargling ancient Sanskrit three days into Oktoberfest, and some of the words have more syllables than I have socks (and I have a lot of socks!) Too hard.
Why can't some other country come up with free education, a responsible social safety net, and legal prostitution? I'm totally ready to emigrate. I just can't find anywhere to go.:(
Look, you can get any four year degree and then go for an IT masters program, or post-graduate certificate.
Provided you have experience in software engineering.
I don't know how many times I've walked down University Ave and overheard about to graduate Computer Science majors talk about (in May) that maybe they should get some work experience.
That's too late.
So do some GitHub or other programming, crank out some fun apps or software, but do it before you graduate CS.
Many people go for a Masters or PhD in a field that is not the same as their undergrad, so exactly which form of degree (even Arts) is not that important. But you need to be able to handle complex task-oriented projects with computing deliverables, and you'll need some experience, even if it was a volunteer job.
Convert 50 percent of all parking spots to solar-powered charging. Charge a carbon surtax on all non-electric parking.
Problem solved.
Why are we subsidizing fossil fuels anyway? Cheap federal and state land/sea leases, allowing on-street parking for fossil fuel vehicles, just end that.
Actually, no. It causes your kids to seek a less stressful environment and move to a hippie commune where they can commune with nature.
Or hermits.
That is the takeaway message from this study.
All your freedom is belong to Russia.
Way to sell out your freedom for Security Paranoia, America!

The world will exist perfectly well without you.
Meanwhile, Windows declared Open Source.
And wish them well in confusing lots of teen boys and girls.
And build large-scale solar and wind farms on the radioactive remnants of its other reactors.
That was the question for the coal-using Japanese, correct?
They should also convert 100 percent of their existing coal plants to cogeneration, doubling energy output and reducing emissions.
They already control your tea kettle, using an IoT backdoor.
You're being spied on right now.
In your home.
Without a warrant.
Illegal on the face of it.
This is why the UK will break up if London greedmeisters persist.

Seriously. Only 1AME people use 3D.
Wake me when you realize you're using last century's tech.
If your flip phone still works.
And that we splash anything that lacks those.
Oh.
Wait.
The only way they will stop is if you publicly humiliate them inside China or at a major event.
Everything else won't work.
Also in your track control processor and keyboard buffers.
All of your chips and transmission devices also have direct backdoors.
Yes, all of them.

Actually, biodiesel would be better in places like Wisconsin where most electricity comes from coal.
Without cheating electronics, that is.
All your fossil fuel vehicles are belong to the 20th Century.
Wake up, it's the 21st.
Adapt or die.
Nobody cares about your excuses.
Batteries are cheap, solar is cheaper than coal, wind is cheap, stop whining grandpa!
Looks like FB is ripping you off.
Not so keen on your overseas tax havens now, are we?

I think you mean Wales or Scotland.
Same in Scotland and Norway.
Free university is a good thing.

This is why you don't let auto firms run or design the tests.
And why you don't let people that worked for the regulators work for the industry as "consultants".
A few 20 year jail terms will clear the minds of senior top ten executives at all the firms.
Without bail. And with confiscation of all trusts they may have set up to store looted gains.
I had all the hash keys printed out in this paper file.
Hmm.
Dang, guess it's missing.
It's that he needs to be imprisoned without bail, tried, sentenced, and all assets stripped from him and any trusts he set up.
