Just do a search of #SCCAbc for what's really going on with breast cancer research.
First: self-exams do work. In fact, they're the most useful thing young women can do, due to the density of their breast tissue.
Second: mammograms before age 40 and after age 70 are at best problematic in terms of risk/reward ratios. If you're in the 40-70 year range, get periodic exams at the schedule determined by your physician or nurse. If you have BCRA1 or BCRA2 genetic risks, this may mean Annual exams. For other women, it may mean less frequent exams. Men with significant breasts may wish to ask their doctors about their risks. No, I'm serious.
Third: do not interpret BCRA1 or BCRA2 genetic risk factors yourselves. A lot of people mess this up and overreact. Diet, environment, stress, normal breast shape/type for your ethnic background - all have significant impacts. Genetic counselors in established medical settings can help you decide what your real imputed risk factors are, in consultation with your doctor or nurse.
Correction: there are no Frozen Dinosaur Remains from the Mesozoic that WE KNOW OF AT THIS POINT.
The absence of a data point does not imply the absence of such a data point in the universe, just in the admittedly VERY SMALL SAMPLE we have looked at.
After all, since the earth is only 9000 years old, and Jesus rode dinosaurs, we just have to get DNA from those and then ask an Angel to transmogrify it back into usable DNA.
Right?
(actually, extreme cold is why we have mammoth DNA and may result in dinosaur DNA, I'm just arguing the Moron Viewpoint)
Just because they have the software, some of which is used to send secure encrypted Skype and decode it on the other end, does not mean they're using it on you.
If it worked for our founding fathers, who didn't have the Internet, and thus had longer lag times, it should work for America.
Yep; And flintlock muskets worked pretty well for our founding fathers, who didn't have the Internet, so they should be all America today needs too, right?
Well, there are marauding bands of wild turkeys endangering the Mid-West and South, but them's make good eating.
Interesting point. Yet, when we allow exemptions and exceptions, we find that they are always used as justification to extend more exemptions and exceptions to other non-worthy classes.
Better to keep to a Golden Mean, or median, and let the chaff fall by the wayside.
Other countries get along with far shorter periods for their pharma and medical patents.
True. Good argument. Time to market, time for distribution, even the money markets work faster in venture financing than they used to.
However, I think sticking with a base 13 and base 17 cycle grants us a reasonable time period. When looking at pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, the human trials period can be many years in duration.
After long thought, I am not going to agree to allowing AIs, ACs, Cyborgs (we have a cool seminar on advanced robotics and remote imaging this Thursday at 3:30 pm), or Robots to be included.
Or Corporations.
But I like your idea of a Gulag for Corporate Believers.
Spot on.
Best thing to do is get funding as early as possible if you're doing research. Takes a lot of the pressure off.
engineering now requires a lot of this too.
True. The last year you should expect to work on your thesis.
Actually, the hardest things to realize are:
1. You have to work on your thesis.
2. Arguing with your committee is rarely productive.
3. If you are unsure of what you are doing, you're probably not ready yet.
Look, the rule of thumb for non-science is 2 hours study for every credit, plus the time spent in labs and classes.
Which is only 60 hours.
The rule for science is 3 hours study for every credit, or 4 hours study for every credit in Law or Engineering.
Double majors add 25 percent.

thanks.
I have a 1996 Saturn SC2 and it's been on the road for more than 10 years with very little maintenance.
But I'd buy a Tato Nano.
No, it was 6000 years old 2000 years ago.
Which, using Jeebus math means 6000 plus 2000 equals 9000.
Quod erratum Demons Stratum.

And ye shall know them by their deeds, not their Word.
I stand by my statement.
I'd sit, but Ballmer threw my chair at someone.
My knees are perfectly fine.
Mild to moderate exercise is the key, however.
None of my grandparents were cyborgs, they just had good DNA.
I mean, seriously, it's pretty sick.
I'll upload the video if you want, but it's fairly twisted. ... oh, you meant the privacy of Serfs, not YOUR privacy, Art?
Next time be clearer.
You keep wondering there, armchair quarterback. Let us know when you successfully run the largest software company on the planet.
Pretty sure Ballmer doesn't work for Apple or Google.
I mean, seriously, throwing chairs may be an amazing party trick, but he's running Microsoft into the ground.
Just because they have the software, some of which is used to send secure encrypted Skype and decode it on the other end, does not mean they're using it on you.
Now put some underwear on.
I mean, seriously, that's just gross.

And, since you post this as an AC, we can see that you too are Not A Person, and thus unworthy of being considered.

In the real world much of the funding is by foundations, which have no choice but to spend the money on research, based on their charters.
Nice try, though.

I am sorry, but ACs are clearly not Natural Persons and thus have no say in either Copyright or Patent.
