Even if there isn't a response right now, it doesn't mean there won't be as right from the beginning there were a lot of unanswered question regarding evolution. Many of them have been answered, and many questions will yet be answered. In reality, evolution is a theory in name only. Not one piece of evidence has come up to refute evolution. Evolution is an important principle of biological science.

On the other hand, all the evidence has refuted creationism. Simply removing the word "god" and then trying to remove evidence like continental drift, fossils etc, is not science. In fact, by that very criteria of eliminating evidence (in the instance given) makes ID anti-scientific. Science is a process of getting data, analyzing it, testing it and then coming to a conclusion. The creationists are not about science, rather they are about eliminating information that conflicts with their beliefs.

This did two things: (1) Made a lot of tech diplomas not worth the paper they were printed on by creating a glut of tech people, and (2) made a lot of people flee from joining the micro-ghetto after seeing what happened to the people who entered the work force just after Y2K. It is one of the reasons I see there being a shortage of people in the field in about 10 years.

A lot of research still goes on in the US, but a lot of countries not formerly known (at least not for a long time) are starting to make some noise with their innovation and tech. Get used to it. This is apt to continue. As other countries increase their standards of living and research levels, they are going to make discoveries and advance. The US does not have a monopoly on science and development. Has religion held up some research, almost certainly in some areas like biology, but other research goes on and does produce results.

The US may not so much lose it's No. 1 status in science so much as have to share it. And that is actually a good thing.

Brain chemistry or extreme trauma can cause profound suffering which you seem to describe.

That said, no one is happy all the time except an idiot. Rather, it is the attitude that unhappiness is transitory and will pass. Have faith. It does work that way. I am not religious at all, and I am no less happy than someone who professes such.

You have to accept these things and ride them, We get in trouble when we try to control the things out of our control and get further into trouble when we fail to control the things we can. Religion helps some with that.

Things that seemed insurmountable change with perspective and distance. It's the in-the-moment gut wrenching that take a lot of us down. If you can keep things in perspective, even your worst problems will not drag you down to the mud. If you can stand your ground and hold your attitude, your sense of self respect will keep you above water.

While we may all feel that the RIAA has all all the trappings and actions of the Soprano crew, somehow I don't think that particular claim is going to wash with the the courts. On the other hand, it is out of the books of law enforcement in terms of hitting the accused with a large number of charges, most of which get thrown out, but some stick. Enough to make it worthwhile to go to court. This is a civil case, but the idea is the same.

The interesting thing to me is that is a sign of the RIAA cases startng to get out-of-hand from the RIAA's point of view. People are counter-suing, and now with omnibus claims. Rather than backing down against their legal might, some people are starting to fight back and they run the case of making sympathetic figures of those they are going after and making themselves out to be bad guys to the general public. Up to now, all the publicity in the mainstream has gone for the most part, the RIAA's way. This type of thing if it continues can harden the general public against the RIAA making their present tactics counter-productive. And as a by-product, can make it harder to find sympathetic jurors and judges to their cause.

The big fear I would have if I were the RIAA, is that sooner or later unless they change tactics, they could face class action lawsuits.

This is a nice shot across the bow of the RIAA.
