I'm from Norway, and we were never afraid of the Ruskies. (Except for the one time when they lined up tanks along the border, of course, but that was before I was born, so it doesen't count). Now, I look at Bresident Bush, and hope he never finds out we have oil.
It's a relatively common misconception that theories are "proven". They are not. They are thought-models, not the thing itself. Not "Laws of nature", but ways of predicting how nature will behave. They can never be proven, only disproven. In time, a theory will gather enough supporting evidence so that it can be relied on, or it will be disproven, and consequently be removed or reshaped.
A model is only as valid as its usefulness. Neither Creationism or Intelligent Design are usefull, and can therefore safely be ignored. Religious Nutters can of course believe whatever fairie tales they want in the privacy of their own homes. (Or churches)
Don't pray in my school, and I won't think in your church.
I've studied archaology at http://www.ntnu.no/
One of the most valuable things I learned there, is that there are very few facts. Some sciences, like math or physics have a lot of them, but stuff like archaology or history have very few hard facts. The value of general truth in the world of around us, isn't 1 or 0, but is rather a sliding scale. For example, why would world war one start?
Except that osx=bsd... Anyway, I use Macs every day in school... and... (I'm a pc guy)... They suck. That's just my opinion. My photo teacher is a Mac lover. He loves his mac. Looooves it. 'Cause as far he's concerned a toaster is a tool to to toast bread, a dvd-player is a tool to play dvd's, and his portable Mac is a tool to edit and manage photos. Me, I like to tinker. I like to get under the hood and tweak the system, and I find that hard to do on the Mac.
Ok, so slightly off topic here, but... It's a tiny bit unfair to compare the Frp to the Republicans... Frp are rasist, crypto-fascistoid, elitist scum, much like Republicans, that's true, but the Republicans have nicer much suits. Oh, and in case you can't guess, I'm probably gonna vote for Kristin:-)
Yeah but... There's something about Norwegian law overriding any treaty, isn't there? Uhm, I mean, they're pushing this law so that we CAN conform to the EU, we dont have to, but they want us to become members. Remember, the current government is a bunch of right wing religious nutters who think money is far more important than people.
Your first question there... well, yes. But if I bought, say, Windows XP and copied it to my brother, that would be legal, since software in Norway is protected under the same laws as music or films or books. That's what the DVD-Jon case was all about. The question the court in the end posed to itself was:
"What can a Norwegian consumer do with a movie he or she has bought?"
The answer was:
"Whatever he or she damn well pleases, as long as it's for private use."
Private use includes making copies for family and close friends. That's what the're trying to change. Everyone agrees that downloading music you don't own from p2p or whatever is not totally kosher, so having that made illegal probably won't cause such a stir, but if they start screwing with our right to copy what we have already bought... then, well, we'll just ignore them i suppose.

Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
Couldn't help noticing that Wikipedia doesn't mention that chiropracty is, not to put to fine a point on it, bunk
...but verifiable truth of ideas.

Jet engine fuel isn't expensive...
This article... and I stress _this article_ brings nothing new to the table. I would be interested in reading Dr. Barnett's actual study though.
Du har rett. Sorry. Jeg kjenner flere som stemmer frp. Jeg er dum :-(
