  1. competition - not a bad thing on Cisco Evolving Into A Security Company · · Score: 5, Insightful

"a move which may prove problematic for traditional security vendors like Symantec."

Which means competition and is therefore good for the user.

Apart from that, another company concerned about security is no bad thing.

Just because, blinking lights and windows and sprayed pictures and the more on are for kids.

A server has per definition other priorities.
This is a piece of tech to work with. Not a playground for stylingfreaks.

How about first go to your fridge, afterwards to repair yur server.
Or other way round, as you prefer.
That way you have more space to store snacks and beer in your fridge.

Ok let's make a little quiz.
    What are servers for?
Your right! They run services for other pcs.

What use is a server with no other pcs around?
    Right again! None at all.

Who will carry around 3+ pcs plus one suitcase-server?
Wow your awesome, right a third time.
    Noone will.

This is a waste of time and money.

It's like putting a server into a refrigerator.
Makes no sense too.But has no heat-problems.

Let's forget this crap and go on to something more important.

  5. its gettin' hot out here on NASA Says 2005 Could Be Warmest Year Recorded · · Score: 2, Insightful

We know the temperature rises, we know know earth changes. - We think we might have something to do with it.

It won't be the hottest year on record for long.

The only uncertain thing about global warming is when mankind will realize that the end of that development is to be avoided.

  6. beta to be better on Are Betas Taking On Lives of Their Own? · · Score: 1

Many of the beta programs out there are very stable. At least more stable then most Software M$ puts into sale.

    And as to the support:
Most of these programs are free. That means there is no support even if it were a 1.0.

'beta' these days seems to be used as a label reading 'there will be new features soon'.

    No problem so far.
Who cares how a program is labeled anyway?

People who already own an ipod are probably not napsters marketing target.

You wouldn't wanna sell a car to someone who just bought one.

I wonder how apple would react on that campaign.

No ones noticed that we have this ALL the time on slashdot? How do we fix it? We leave a warning for all, and then we ignore it. Simple as pie. The fact is racistism, and all *ism's will NEVER go away, but this doesn't mean that you can't choose to not care about them. These people have nothing better to do with their lifes, pity them, they are the ones that become nothing.

    WRONG!
Ignorance is no solution to most problems. Especially if it's racism. What ignorance leads to you can see when you look at Germany in the 1930s. Some ignored Hitler, some didn't take him serious. We all know what happened afterwards so don't pretend ignorance solves the problem. It simply doesn't work that way.

Someone said "its from the cause of overpopulation". Nope, your wrong... Its from people creating value of other people. Its from people having something, someone else wants.

So racists envy blacks because blacks have something that racists want?

Wrong again. What does a man/woman have automatically just because his skin colour is more brown/yellow/red/blue/green/pink or whatever? Well, apart from less problems with the sun if it's brown...
Racists think that humans are primarily determined by their race and that some races are superior to other races. In most cases - of course - their own race is the one who is superior.
