    Did you see the video? Clearly the police were out of line. He was at the podium for only 1 minute and 40 seconds. He was not out of control. His question was not really more than a rant. But that is no cause for arrest. The fact that he was tasered only makes it worse.

    So if you look funny then should be harassed right? Why not just detain anyone who looks like they are from the middle east? Passenger profiling does protect in Israel. But it also harasses a huge number of innocent folks. Including high level American Officials who happen to have the wrong name. We are spreading a wide net catching mostly good people in hopes that there may be a few rotten apples in the catch. It is crazy.

    Tell me me, how do you know what they are doing? If there was some oversite I might believe that. But there is none and Bush is fighting against having any. Katerina showed us he lies. ("I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees." He said this days after he was briefed that they would, in fact, fail)

    How about the fact that only a few years ago, when the phone tap thing really got going, the top Republican in Virgina was convicted of Wiretapping/spying on the Democrats? I think Bush, like his predecessor, thinks he is above the law. I am sure the cronies who work for him believe they are above the law as well.

    How about, lets just keep an open mind. And the next time you see a doctor, remember, if this doctor is a medical doctor, the doctor has studied science. Hope the doctor is not wrong 99% of the time.

    I have had a few problems with rebates. Usually its a letter stating that I did not buy the correct product or set of products. There is a number I can call to correct any errors. I have called to correct, but I needed my receipt, which could have been easily lost. I too have always received the rebate in end. But what a pain. So I never look at the after mail-in-rebate price when I shop. And I do think the mail in rebates are somewhat a sham.
    PS: I have done, maybe, 16 mail-in rebates over the last 8 years. A bit less than your 50....

Matricardi, III, the former Executive Director of the Republican Party of Virginia. The Indictment alleges that Mr. Matricardi violated the Federal Wiretap Act, and charges him with 2 counts of unlawful interception of a wire communication, 2 counts of unlawful disclosure of intercepted wire communications, and 1 count of aiding and abetting the unlawful interception of a wire communication...

    I agree with that statement. I used to buy cd's. Not anymore. And no, I do not download them either.
    There are some crooks out there. And illegal downloading is stealing. But, most of us are not doing this. The RIAA on the other hand wants us all to pay them. No matter what. It is a racket. Laws such as 'cassette compensation' {http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/09/16/swedish_l evy/} are the immoral result of a mafia like cartel.

    So true!

    But what is the best way to keep a simple computer working? Perhaps windows is already overkill for those who just email now and then. Same goes for those doing a little web browsing. The patching is a pain for them. And then to have to upgrade hardware and software just to continue to do the same o' thing?
    Once those folks are set up on Linux, then they are good to go for a real long time with few or no issues.


    .....Not even going to mention my old vb 6 apps ....

    I am not really sure how involved the SQL server engine will be in the end but....
    I can crash or lock up any db very easily.

    Select data from other threads.{data locks, wait times, and other good stuff for killing a CPU}

    SQL Server is a very good product. However I do not want it responsible for my file system.

    1. It does not even allow you to format your own code.
    ....and design view is the default. If any person using visual studio looks at my code, or If i look at the code from another persons computer, then poof goes the formatting.
    2. It crashes a LOT.
    3. It's slow, and all around very irritating.

    Now I will say this: I have to program in VB ( at work anyway ). C# does not seem to cause as many problems. For small projects it seems great. But for large, or Enterprize projects, at some point it just stops working very well.

    Visual Studio 2003 is a piece of Dog doo. Especially if you are coding for ASP.NET. It does not even allow you to format your own code. It crashes a LOT. It's slow, and all around very irritating. A non programmer can create a site with 2003. It is Front Page with a huge leap forward. But for programmers, people who use CSS, code for section 508, or the like, it sucks.

    The Courts seem to disagree with you. "Novell filed the WordPerfect-related antitrust lawsuit in November 2004, within days of settling with Microsoft over antitrust claims related to Novell's NetWare network operating system product. Microsoft agreed to pay Novell $536 million in that settlement." Read the details of each case. While perhaps M$ did not outright break the software, the indication is, that; M$ at least withheld interface information from Novell, and at most made changes to Windows that would adversely affect Novell software.

    The shuttle will only be abandoned if there is damage. What if that damage causes the shuttle to blow up and a large chunk lands on a building, or several, in Texas? It would be neat to see a damaged unmanned shuttle safely land, but the risk of killing a lot civilians is most likely to great.

    It does not appear to be a problem. But it should be cause for one to pause, stop and think. The new motto for NASA is now safety first. Right? Well if that is the case, then why are they sending the shuttle up with a full crew? I think the back-up plan is crazy. Doable? Yes. Safety first? No. Why not send a crew of four? Then if there was a problem, 3 could bale out from the space station. That would leave three left on the space station. There would be no artificial one month deadline. The Station is getting new supplies from the shuttle. It is designed for three. And could support three until we, or the Russian's, are good and ready to send up another space craft. (Within reason of course)

    Right now AMD seems to be on top of the game. INTEL is a bit behind. From all that I have read, AMD has had good luck with the 90 nm process. That means less heat, better battery life. And more power when you need it. Of course complete overall performance is still to be seen....

    Well that does it. My next desktop is not going to be Dell. Of course I built my last desktop, and I will most likely build the next. So what do I matter to Dell?

    The corporate world still wants Intel chips in their servers. The home users often do not know jack about what is in a computer. I think Dell will be OK. I regret the decision though.
