But Apple and Intel have conspired - so that the Mac OS X (bagel/nee FreeBSD 5.0) that I have bought (repeatedly) will not run on any Intel (on any toaster) - but only on a Mac Toaster (Apple Computer).
I will be checking out to see if the above nonsense is legal in Canada. That is, I buy a toaster and the toaster can ONLY toast bread from ACME BREAD COMPANY. Doesn't sound legal to me!

Woz the inventor of the Apple Computer says that Apple should be split into 2 companies - an Ipod Company and A Mac Computer/Software Company.
From my point of view - that way if one compnay fails it won't kill the other. If both fail - then it won't matter. One needs to remember that Apple didn't invent the portable music player. What Apple did do was/is the result of Jobs wealth and position in the interntainment business. If Napter had the bucks and insiders position - they could have had the music download business sewed up.
Give a guy a gun - and he starts to think with his balls. Cops hate to be caught while thinking/acting with their balls. Once they get caught - they use the system to get anyone they think - they can get away with getting (like Rodney King).
Couple of years ago, the cops were running a so-called "values" program in the school system in Ontario and in many parts of the USA - the fake "values" program was (is?) called VIP ( Values Infliuences And Peers). The cops went into the classroom and belittled the kids, told kids to trust cops not their parents, told kids not to be friends with kids who had dirty clothes or dirty faces, told kids to never trust or believe their friends and on and on. The climax happened when the cop showed kids a fired bullet - the bullets that cops used - that mushroomed on impact - causing maximum damage. The cop also took out his gun and showed kids how to load his gun - which is illegal - can't take out gun unless action with a gun is necessary - arresting someone or killing someone.
When my daughter came home and told me what was happening in her class - I contacted the school board, the school prinicpal, the parents, the media, the provincial government etc. Then:
1) a private eye showed up on my doorstep with lawyer's letter from the cop in question - stating he (the cop) was going to sue me for libel (likely the police association was paying for everything here)
2) the cops started parking an empty cop car across the street from my house every night - the entire night.
3) the city then sent me a registered lawyer's letter stating they were going to sue me for libel.
I contacted my lawyer(s) - likely the largest law firm in Canada - also very conservative firm that represents many politicians and multi-national corporations. These folks charge $700 and hour!
I talked to above firm's lawyer that specializes in libel cases - he asked me to contact several parents who had children in my daughter's class to verify the gun incident. After I did verify - "my lawyer" wrote a letter to the cop and the city - and said "absolutely no libel here". It was cute - the lawyer didn't even sign the letter - just had it rubber stamped with the names of the three major partners (not signatures). I never heard from the cops or the city again on this issue!
I talked to the lawyer a couple of days latter after he sent his letter and asked him if I should keep working on this issue - he said: of course. He never did bill me! I was lucky on two counts here. That my lawyer got so upset with the cop, the cops, the city - that he decide to take them on as a public issue. And secondly, that I had been using this same law firm for several decades for business purposes - started with them when they used to be small potatoes. The cops and the city decided I was small potatoes (which I am) and never in their wildest dreams, did they think I would have a heavy duty law firm (that included former attorney generals) to represent me. It was an attempt by the elite's puppets at a SLAPP SUIT - to shut me up.
In the end the province passed legislation/regulations to stop and prevent the kinds of abuses by cops - that went on in my daughter's class. Does that mean that cops have stopped abusing other kids in classrooms in the same fashion as described above. Unfortunately - unlikely. Give a cop a gun.........
The Spanish Elite/Rich/White Collar Crooks make their P2P laws laughable. Let me explain. I was holidaying in Spain a couple of years. I was staying in a tiny town of Torremolenos in the South of Spain. Permanent population is about 30,000 people. When I arrived at the hotel that my idiot travel agents had packaged for "me" - I found that the this hotel had 2 other hotels being built beside it - both within 20 ft. - complete with jack hammers, constant concrete trucks, bulldozers etc.
But as I walked around this tiny town I began to notice the gigantic construction cranes. At first I noticed them because unlike Canada - the operators stay on the ground and operate the crane with a remote control (in Canada the operator sits several hundred feet above ground at the top of the crane. Yes ever now and then - the crane collpaes and kills the operator.)
Then I started to notice the number of cranes. After a couple of days there - I roughly figured out that there were at least 300 cranes (coming from a construction family I notice things like this:) - for building 300 condo complexes. Some of these condos were/are humungus. In one case - it was three times the length of a football field and about two football fields wide by 20 stories high - big - very big! NAturally all this construction had to run into a couple of hundred billion. The amount of construction in Torremolenos had to be five to six times the amount of Big Box construction compared to Toronto.
While I was having lunch at a neat restaurant on the ocean - with a view of both the town and the ocean (naturally owned by the mayor of the town - the only restaurant for a mile of beach). One could see a panorama of the entire town as it stretched up the moutain side - all 300 projects. I asked the waiter why 300 condos were being built in the middle of nowhere. He laughed and replied "Matress Money"! He went on to explain that with the Euro coming into force - all of the old Spanish currency (multi billions) that the rich Spanish elite had stashed away - being hid from the tax man - had to be converted to Euros. And one could not walk into a bank and deposit 2 or 3 million Spanish "dollars" - and escape being noticed. Generally a deposit of $10,000 or more in any bank in the world triggers an investigation by police.
Solution? - use a series of hundreds of construction companies and their thousands of subcontractors and suppliers to bank the "Matress Money" - to then build condos! The waiter told me to wait for the weekend - when all the Spanish Elite come to Torremolenos and Marabella come to see how their matress money is doing. Sure enough the following weekend the came by the thousands. In one club about 30 came in a once - I would guess that the average women had about 4 or 5 thousand dollars of clothing and jewellery on. The next town over Marbella (with another 300 condos going up)- had THE bar there for the rich of the rich elite - the drinks started a 30 dollars to keep the riff -raff out.
So much for "getting those nasty people" for using P2P - it's all smoke and mirrors to keep the masses focused on P2P - rather than on the real crooks! Good news though - recently the mayor and other puppets of the elite were charged for taking hundreds of millions in Matress Money Bribes - breaking laws. Will the Elite get charged?

I was staying in a tiny town of Torremolenos in the South of Spain. Permanent population is about 30,000 people. When I arrived at the hotel that my idiot travel agents had packaged for "me" - I found that the this hotel had 2 other hotels being built beside it - both within 20 ft. - complete with jack hammers, constant concrete trucks, bulldozers etc.
But as I walked around this tiny town I began to notice the gigantic construction cranes. At first I noticed them because unlike Canada - the operators stay on the ground and operate the crane with a remote control (in Canada the operator sits several hundred feet above ground at the top of the crane. Yes ever now and then - the crane collpaes and kills the operator.)
Then I started to notice the number of cranes. After a couple of days there - I roughly figured out that there were at least 300 cranes (coming from a construction family I notice things like this :) - for building 300 condo complexes. Some of these condos were/are humungus. In one case - it was three times the length of a football field and about two football fields wide by 20 stories high - big - very big! NAturally all this construction had to run into a couple of hundred billion. The amount of construction in Torremolenos had to be five to six times the amount of Big Box construction compared to Toronto.
While I was having lunch at a neat restaurant on the ocean - with a view of both the town and the ocean (naturally owned by the mayor of the town - the only restaurant for a mile of beach). One could see a panorama of the entire town as it stretched up the moutain side - all 300 projects. I asked the waiter why 300 condos were being built in the middle of nowhere. He laughed and replied "Matress Money"! He went on to explain that with the Euro coming into force - all of the old Spanish currency (multi billions) that the rich Spanish elite had stashed away - being hid from the tax man - had to be converted to Euros. And one could not walk into a bank and deposit 2 or 3 million Spanish "dollars" - and escape being noticed. Generally a deposit of $10,000 or more in any bank in the world triggers an investigation by police.
Solution? - use a series of hundreds of construction companies and their thousands of subcontractors and suppliers to bank the "Matress Money" - to then build condos! The waiter told me to wait for the weekend - when all the Spanish Elite come to Torremolenos and Marabella come to see how their matress money is doing. Sure enough the following weekend the came by the thousands. In one club about 30 came in a once - I would guess that the average women had about 4 or 5 thousand dollars of clothing and jewellery on. The next town over Marbella (with another 300 condos going up)- had THE bar there for the rich of the rich elite - the drinks started a 30 dollars to keep the riff -raff out.
So much for "getting those nasty people" for using P2P - it's all smoke and mirrors to keep the masses focused on P2P - rather than on the real crooks! Good news though - recently the mayor and other puppets of the elite were charged for taking hundreds of millions in Matress Money Bribes - breaking laws. Will the Elite get charged?

Is there a Canadian/Toronto ISP that does provide low cost/ high speed DSL- without a bunch of nonsense - sur charges, down time etc.? I'm guesssing there are a boatload of Torontonians here ready to switch. If not lets start one - a co-op. I'll donate/volunteer time. I have had enough of Bell.
Once again - a clear demonstration - that politicians and the civil service in Canada (and the USA et al) are just puppets of the self appointed elite - the rich. The rich elite in Canada - when not busy screwing Aboriginals by stealing land and resources from the Aboriginals - love screwing the rest of us. And as usual - ironically, the elite use income tax collected the middle class to fund their white collar crookery. Some day - hopefully we will actually have a democracy in Canada - where the majority will be able to have a referendum on the budget and on "rights". Unfortunately only one country on this planet does have these democratic votes/referendums - Switzerland.
It's obvious to anyone who is awake - that the USA is moving (very quickly right now) towards a totalitarian state. And it's only when someone steps up to the plate and shows some "balls" that the totalitarian process stalls, and slows down. Libraries have always been attacked by the elite and their puppets - the list of books censored and taken out of libraries in the USA is long. It's ggo to see this librarian as well as the assoc. stand up to the "machine". It's interesting that the cops (and the elite) in the USA are so "concerned" here. Tens of thousands of children have been raped by priests in the USA. The cops and the elites always protected the above priests - as well as the church officals. In one case the cops refused to investigate -until the raped child committed suicide.

I hope that the up and coming musicians (my daughter is one of those) do figure out away to by-pass the slimy music execs.
The major stumbling block to her succeeding - is to figure out how to deal with PAYOLA. PAYOLA is a simple process. The music exec decides which musician to promote. These slimy execs illegally give money to various businesses to primarily play (over and over and over) the designated music.
Who does this PAYOLA go to? DJs, radio station owners + workers, television station owners+workers, newspaper journalists, magazine journalists, bloggers, music retailers, online music streamers..........
It's always amazing to me - on how many issues here are made so complicated - so as to circumvernt looking at the real issue. (I think they call it spin). All one has to do is "follow the money" and/or find out who is actually getting screwed - and who is doing the screwing. In this case - it's obvious. Apple and other greedy music execs at are screwing most musicians on a daily basis.
I wonder how many bloggers on the music execs payroll are posting here - spinning away like crazy. How many Apple paid bloggers spining away here?

Umberto wrote this great essay awhile back. he concluded that Window PC's are Protestant while Apple PC's are Catholic (and Intel Apple PCs?). Linux wasn't cooking when Eco wrote his essay. My guess? Linux would likely classified as Athiest.
Good to finally hear from scientists - who are finally explaining what scientific proof is and isn't. Naturally, this issue of what is scientific versus what are "notions" doesn't only occur when it comes to so-called global warming being caused by earthlings.
The list is long - from how many hours of sleep "we" need each night, to how many glasses of water a day "we" need or whether any given prescription drug actually works - "we" simply don't know. (Well we know 70% of perscription don't work - and that many kill.)

So our humanoid specie's turn will come to disappear - just like the rest. No point in destroying other planets.

The idiots went to Somalia and convinced the waring factions that they could buy more guns and rocket launchers if they switched from traditional crops to beef grazing. They switched, produced beef - got more guns - which were then used to kill USA Marines! What happened next? The cattle overgrazed - which resulted in a "dust bowl" - no grains to feed cattle - no cattle. Naturally no traditional crops to feed people = starvation.
The USA and other western countries as well as Muslim countries owe countless trillions to the starving Africans for enslavement and for stealing resources from African over several hundred years. It's payback time.
Naturally kids and adults need to eat enough food to be well. Then kids and adults would not have destoyed immune systems - and wouldn't come down with ever dis-ease possible. There is more than enough food to feed ever person on this planet. But, the self apponted elite - the Rich, who control the flow of food on this planet - are not the least bit interested in feeding people. In fact they are interested in the reverse - destabilization. Keeps the price of oil/gasoline up!
The $100 communication/learning tool can be a way out for Africans. Not the only tool needed; but, one of the tools needed. An "internet system" is part of the $100 laptop notion. With a well developed "Peer Interdependent Learning" systems approach - people can quickly learn rapidly. An example of a simple outcome:
a) The farmer's kids will then get weather reports via the internet to assist in planting of crops etc.
b) They can also get info via the internet on drought resistant seeds - if need be.
c) They can find out the market price for their crops in the nearest big city via the internet to see if the middle men are screwing them finacially.
Etc.
