The lawyers for the ACLU will make it possible. The rest will run it under our radars. Porn is coming. It's soul destroying legal sh** because it's free speech. There's no constitutional way to shoot this garbage down. The only way is if everyone turns away. So sad to see our freedom turned on it's head this way. Porn. Porn. Porn. Make your choice.
Apple steps up to the anti porn plate. What will the rest say? Apple has all the money in the world. Those more desperate (Real, Media Player) will say yes. Once the YES vote earns the super dollars, Apple will either cave or give up huge potential income. Kudos to Apple for holding the line... for now but the pressure will become unbearable as society breaks down. Can't we all just have values?
Hi, I just read your post. I just thought you'd like to know that someone read it. Nice manifesto. Not much more to say here.... other than I read it. I can't quite figure out what your point is... Mickey should be called Mitchey... I don't know

I'm sorry. I'm a big space explorer. Without sounding too preachy, I just meant to say that I'm a "Christian" scientist who is willing to admit that natural selection and a lot of other things might be true. And without making apologies, I was also trying to hedge bets because I see the truth in the natural order of things but I didn't know the 400 pound angry guy was going to jump .
I'd very much like to find the very fudge caked coward that moded this post down... Life on other planets very well may change our thinking. Just because the moderator is a university schooled ponk does not mean our downhill chocolate slide has to be a total downer. Come -- on --- dude! Ride --- it --- with --- me.... Life on the moons of other planets means what? To me it means God is everywhere and has a super weird plan. I've always been ready to believe that the universe is for everyone and I'm ready to accept it. To others it means life evolves and all religion dies. What does it mean to Slashdot people?
I first realized I was old when I remembered saying those CD drives where extravagant. I ordered my most recent Mac with a DVD burner thinking I would never need it. Now I have a Mac that can boot into YDL and Ubuntu so I think I'm staying young. Damnit, what's this VOIP stuff? Just kidding!
When the article said "old phone" I pictured one of those 12 pounders from 1976. You know, the black or beige kind that would allow you to unscrew the mouth piece and pull out the unwired (not wireless) audio receiver so you could listen to your parents conversation downstairs without them hearing you while you hid in their bedroom... Imagine my shock when I saw a cordless handheld like the one in my kitchen right now. I'm super old.
Oh my, cough. All those hard hours of surfing Slashdot in search of a way to plug company hardware. First I read a post by a Dell guy and now a post by an Apple guy. Boy, it's going to be a big night in SF! - I hope I'm not being an a**, but it is worth commenting on.
Okay thanks. I think we're on the same page here. My point is that recently many hardware devices are supported by Linux upon install, BUT when the user hits a snag it's huge. I had big dreams about how I would turn my Windows XP laptop into a Fedora or Debian device only to be put off by the most HORRIBLE documentation in existence. It's my fault for not being more learned, but the learning process has been ruff. Therefore, I can understand why organizations make poor choices and use Microsoft products.
Based on marketing segmentation tactics, I have no problem with this company. I thought maybe people with interest could find better ways to spend the money. Honestly, they're truely not doing anything wrong.
Despite real strategic efforts by Microsoft to slow the adoption of Linux, the real culprit is the lack of coherent documentation for users during the adoption stage. I know this article is about businesses using Linux, but I have something to add to the tale. I graduated from college with an MIS degree (don't laugh). I have 2 Linux Distros running on my Mac at home and yet I haven't installed Linux on my Dell laptop where I really want it (microsoft hate) because the wireless card isn't supported by any Linux distro straight from install. Instead I've spent the last few days trying to decifer the forum posts and web pages of Linux experts to determine how to make an unsupported wireless card work and they use phrases and terminology that make perfect sense until I get to line X of the instructions that says something like "then recompile and make a sldfjksdf-sdf in the sldfjs" and suddenly I realize I'm not anywhere near the solution because I have yet another day's worth of homework to do. I can only imagine what it must be like when considering Linux for use in an enterprise environment. I hate to say it, but I'd rather have my documentation from a single source that has given an ounce of consideration to communication techniques and the end user's experience.

Even if they find life, does that negate the religious plan? Not really, it only expands it.

I hope the rollout isn't successful, as I would much prefer to see a more community-based effort
I would personally prefer to see all the potential rollout models and have a choice as a consumer.
Lakeland is absolutely right. This guy was straight up and informative. He deserves his mods. What if Slashdot were always like that?????

"Eventually, our goal is to make PLANETSPACE a public company," said Mr. Sheerin
Uh, yeah. Because there's no other reason for it. $250,000 for zero g? How much to tandem jump? Lot's of problems here. Buyer beware.
