I think consumer just enjoy throwing away a disposable digital camera. They don't care about their photos, just the fact that they got to toss a piece of technology they will likely never understand out like last week's newspaper. That in itself is worth the $10.
socialism shares existing goods, capitalism increases existing goods, communism is an excuse for dictatorship
And you say I write like a child? Please provide links... I want to read what could inform me of what I've been missing all this time. Seriously. Can anyone prove to me without a shadow of a doubt that communism leads to dictatorship? Or explain socialism and communism, so I can better understand them. I barely think i understand capitalism. But I certainly don't think our economists understand it all that well.
The stock market, for example, is based primarily on our perception of the stock market. If people think tech stocks are worth buying the tech market/economy booms. Run an ad on CNN called "Dotcomcrash" and watch the economy collapse. Its that simple, to me.
I think you misunderstand. Did I program as a child to make money? Or did I program for the love of accomplishment?
Programming is fun. Learning is fun. But when you make it a job where I have to program from 8 to 5 to get paid $24.64 an hour with 14% tax going to the Feds and 12% tax going to the state and $218.43 a month going to medical and add 8.25% sales tax on top of all purchases and another 9/10ths of a cent tax on gas and...
It takes all the fun out of the job.
Give me a comfortable place to live, easy access to fresh foods, a society without mass propoganda, commercialism and all these religious nationalists and I'll innovate code like you have never seen. Don't do that and I'll bitch about the obvious problems of capitalism that I expect you and everone else to fix, while I'm giving away all my code to the FSF and making bank working on our F'ed up society.
I'm not saying there isn't opportunity here in America. I could be rich if I wanted to. But I'd rather be well off (never need to worry about money again) and help all the people I know achieve the same status without exploiting a bunch of people to get there. I think we can all be rich together, but only if we acknowledge that money doesn't make you rich. You already are rich, beyond your wildest dreams. You have consciousness.
Just wait until they start competing against themselves.
Never underestemate the power of intelligent people. Educated people can create new things faster than anything we know about in this universe. When you put a human into the right environment, one that doesn't hurt them with rhetoric, propoganda, etc. One that nourishes their natural desire for progress. If you put a person in an environment that will take care of them, give them all the tools and supplies they need, loving people around them to guide them, educate them, etc. Then what you end up with after 20 years is an intelligent peaceful being capable of creating wonderful new things. They are the most valuable object in the world. They are world more than all other objects combined.
China is simply making use of this resource, perhaps haphazardly, but has plenty of it to go around. If they value this resource like I do I bet they will be second to only India's economy in the next 10 years.
Think about it, if you're like, "Hey I'll watch your back.." and take care of your friends and loved ones, financially if necessary, through communism. They might be more willing to go out and work those long days on the farm to help feed several hundred people. WIth modern technology they could help feed several thousand or million people. I believe this is the value of communism. Recognising your resources and working together to use them efficiently. Communism without a head, er something. I dunno. But with out current system we waste everything, our physical and mental resources are just left to rott, while we enslave everyone into a lifelong job with the promise of retirement.
I bet we'd live a lot longer if we could focus on our job instead of being constantly interrupted to pay taxes and interest and count up those coins. Stress kills people slowly, its a known fact. And money causes people a LOT of stress. So I conclude that money kills you slowly. I plead that you just consider what we could accomplish together if we shed it.
Think psychology. We understand ourselves. Collectively we do. We could use that knowledge for something better than what we've created here in the USA, don't you think?
I might be a deadhead with no goals in life, but I'm a very successful one.:)
But you're right, you need experience to get anywhere in this world. If no one will hire you you better be prepared to build your own business or be at the mercy of our fucked up society. People think that you are smarter if you are older or have a piece of paper proving it. They are wrong, but they have the money right now and hold all the jobs. Start a new business, work smarter, not harder, and take it all away from them. They don't deserve it.:)
Yep. But I believe the libdvdcss library does not use the hacked key that was included with DeCSS. So the library itself is not illegal and infringement from usage might be illegal only if you don't own the DVD you are trying to play.
I don't know all the details, but I believe its legal to play DVDs on GNU/Linux. If that is true then it is also to rip and reencode them, too, since they all use the same libraries. The only thing the MPAA can get you for is decrypting their DVD. But that would be a hard case to make against someone who rightfully purchased the media. Might even be enough to get their precious DMCA thrown out as the bad law it is. But I won't hold my breath.
Kids are not adults and don't deserve the protection of our constitution. In fact I think all children should be used for slave labor. They're hella cheap!:)
This is just another example of how our children are our labor resource for the future. We must grow them up to be good workers and that means we need to identify these problems with attendance and work shortage now before its too late. Don't want any more bums than absolutely necessary.
Just great, they leave IT in the hands of our judgicial department. No wonder things are so F'ed up.
I wonder what would happen if they actually made politicies that demanded some sort of security QA test before putting any new hardware on the network.
No, wait, I'm a college dropout, not a highschool dropout. If I knew what I know now back in highschool, maybe I would have given up on this system a long time ago.
They kicked me out of my library in highschool, btw, for hacking their novell network. I offered to teach programming and learn anything related to computers. How did my highschool help me? By taking away the one thing I was interested in.
After I took a psychology class I realized I could learn everything they're trying to teach me in school much faster by reading the books and doing it by myself. So I stopped wasting my time and money. That was also after the tech market basically crashed, so I understood what my Psych. Prof was saying. He was saying that school prepares you for work, now that there's no blooming tech sector school is prepared to teach you all you need to be a tech. Well, I just know they (the schools) didn't have a clue when i was trying to find a decent education in technology 5 years ago. What makes you think they know what they're teaching today?
When I grow up I don't want to belong to any groups, any affiliations, any religions. I don't want to think like you, act like you, or talk like you. I want to be myself.
I bet they don't get many students like me in these schools anyway. It would be a lot easier to tell if they're likely to dropout if they did.
Well, that justifies it then. Proof the US can commit no atrocities. Because its a free demo^H^H^H^Hfederal republic with a strong democratic history.
Look, I'm just tired of being lied to. There is a double standard. If you doubt it, fine.
The double standard I am talking about is in our own words, "You're either with us or against us", as if we can do no wrong. We were wrong, but I doubt we'll ever admit it.
The thing about AI is only one of our billions needs to make an AI. If it is sufficiently intelligent it can create the rest, or at the very least be endlessly replicated and cloned through genetic programming methods to be more intelligent, until it can take over some of the work.
Once sufficient AI has been invented the cat is out of the bag and there's no way to put it back in. We can only hope that an intelligent being is also a peaceful being. But judging the peacefulness of intelligence by man's examples.. we have a lot to worry about.
Either that or mankind simply isn't that intelligent, which I hope is the situation.
How would you feel about an army of AI controlled robots forcing you to live in a moneyless utopian society where they take care of everything? I bet you'd hate it and want to tear down the evil matrix-like system and save humanity with capitalism once again.
The people, not the governments or corporations, the good responsible people should build a new, logically, perhaps to even make routing easier. Communication is required to do such a thing. Communication exists with the internet we already have here today. But I think they should build another one. One that doesn't have central authority for IP/Domain registration. And one that runs on IPv6 from the start, hopefully with some new techniques in dynamic routing and support for wireless mesh technology when it becomes available..
Are you saying our purpose for showing those images on CNN was not to feed the typcial American ego?
I was rather disgusted, seeing death bodies on our national news, after making such a fuss about showing dead Americans up there.
But you know what this is all about, don't you. Its about censorship. Very suttle censorship. You show the people just what you want them to see and they will react just how you want them to react. Thanks for reacting.
Well, here's how I see it. In a democracy the laws are supposed to be by/of/for the people. If everyone wants to speed them what's the point of setting a speed limit? Isn't that against the will of the people?
Similarly with the RIAA. If a majority of the population uses P2P networks then shouldn't the rights and freedom of the public overthrow the rights and freedoms of the corporations? Afterall their actions do not cost the corporations anything, except perhaps forcasted profits, which is impossible to prove in this economy.
I don't like creating laws to try to fix problems like this. Personally I think all organizations that get "press passes" should be non profit in nature. But even that won't give you unbiased opinions. But a news forum similar to slashdot would help. Imagine if there were a list of comments trailing each CNN article.
What concerns me isn't the News reporting itself. I can deal with being flat out lied to or only told half the facts. But I am very concerned about how the average American reacts to the news they see on CNN or MSNBC every day. I bet it manipulates them in many predictable ways. And I think that manipulation can have severe concequences to the safety and well-being of our nation.
That attitude works up until the world gets surprised by the first real nasty one.
;)
Well, wake me when it happens. I'll just be right over there taking a nap.
And just as easy to make insecure, with the running of a single config script or shell script.
Hey, at least they won't have to be worried about being compromised by reading their email.
I think consumer just enjoy throwing away a disposable digital camera. They don't care about their photos, just the fact that they got to toss a piece of technology they will likely never understand out like last week's newspaper. That in itself is worth the $10.
10 years is a long time..

Duct Tape!
flags,
vaccines,
gas & oil,
hanging chads..

I admire their technical prowess, but they're not doing it with the good of humanity in mind.
What country does anything for the good of humanity?
I think people are ranting about how this is inherently stupid because it is inherently insecure. Security through obscurity all over again.
At least they're trying. Now if they could implement it with Rijndael maybe they won't get so many laughs from their potential customers.

Is politicies even a real word? Anyway, that makes more sense now. Thanks for clearing that up. :)
I would start with data management. I think its important to teach people how to make backups and move their data between systems.
On the other hand if you're not willing to touch the command line could we possibly recommend you never touch a computer again?
Kids are not adults and don't deserve the protection of our constitution. In fact I think all children should be used for slave labor. They're hella cheap! :)

School is for lusers.

I just built an encrypted filesystem on a software RAID 5 spread across 4 200GB drives using the serpent cipher with a 256-bit pad.
I wonder which system is more secure..
Well, that justifies it then. Proof the US can commit no atrocities. Because its a free demo^H^H^H^Hfederal republic with a strong democratic history.

More accurate than the US administration at determining who has weapons of mass destruction, I bet.
