I also use Optimum Online. I'd rate them a 6/10.
In general, its speed is good and consistent. The eventual upload cap makes sharing a house hard though, as your housemates can easily screw up your connection. The price isn't bad.
The only complaint about their service I have is that its difficult to transfer accounts.
Unfortunately, OO payed off the DSL providers not to provide to my neighborhood for a few years, so I don't actually have any other useful choices.
The best example of Halo 2 AI I saw was when a friend was driving a tank though one of the human-play levels. A group of grunts came up and let plasma grenades fly at his tank. He jumped out and fell down one ledge. About 10 seconds after the grenades went off, he heard the ominous sound of his tank's main gun swiveling. Next he knew, the new grunt driver was pointing it at him and then he was dead.
Those sorts of moments are pretty much a fluke, sadly. The gaming industry would be far better off if we had more of them.
People would rather do things they enjoy, then deal with problems which they don't enjoy. In almost every case, people will pick the more pleasant thing over the less pleasant thing. Games are more fun than life, and thus its easy to overdo it.
By simply calling all enjoyable things addictive, we're raising a generation of people with no incentive for self control. They don't need to control themselves, they can just blame others.

Miniatures are still widely used in both AD&D and 3rd Ed D&D, but in addition to painted lead and pewter minis there are more options. A few companies are selling good looking plastic models by the box load. I still prefer pewter minis for my character, but the plastic ones are easier sometimes.

I use it all the time, as do my housemates.
