have we not already seen something like this in the Motorola A720... seems to recall reading something on/. re: the specs on the A720, though said device apparently will never reach North America... it has been available in Japan and some say EU for well over a year, if not 2 years...
so is this to be another proprietary standard to further confuse the issues when deciding on a new PC or is this to be released as an open standard like RAM etc ?
you said it... MS has basically co-opted or created a new system for email... this is the defacto expected by users everywhere... any realistic rival to OutHouse or LookOut ( whatever ya calls it ), will have to have significant capabilities built in or at least plug-ins ready to go in order to have credibility with the users...
well, if apps are properly coded they probably won't run on any such bastardizations as Microsoft software... embrace and obfuscate efforts...
When standards are practised, then malfunctioning software such as that produced by MS' finest proves to be substandard... pun partially intended...
the EU will become economically powerful, but this will not necessarily translate into militarily powerful... as well, do not forget the Americans have proven ( again and again ) to be quite resilient and inventive in their responses to such perceived threats...
actually, that's a very good question and a class action lawsuit waiting to happen ... gotta get me one hehehehehe

correct - easier and cheaper, and gets better results - from THEIR perspective ...
