First, TV is mostly crap as others have said. Second, who do you think the people are that are actually implementing the broadcast flag? They are normal people who make mistakes. Third, this whole thread of posts serves to show that no matter what the fat cats do, we can still do what we want because we are just as smart (actually a little smarter) than the people running the show. During Prohibition, did people actually stop drinking? Hell no! They can't stop us from doing what we want. Some people might go to jail for it, but they can't put everyone in jail. Fuck, 'em we always win as long as we try. Small changes lead to global revolutions.
That is just comparing sensory data to yield unexpected decisions. A sense is raw data gathered from the environment. If you were going to count every hidden ability of the mind as a sense then we have millions of senses. Language would be a sense. And obtaining 3d information from the retinal inputs of each eye would be a sense. If there were some kind of danger waves that something in the environment produced and we could detect and compare those, then it would be a sense. The new study the article describes basically re-discovered some pretty well understood decision making processes in the cingulate cortex.
From the article, it looks like the researchers are pretty excited that they have found "proof" that huamns cause global warming. First, they can't get proof of something that complicated. We didn't even understand cold fronts until the 1920's, so now we understand weather patterns that extend over millions or hundreds of millions of years? All I'm saying is that we would blame ourselves if the planet was heading into another ice age. Second, all they appeared to have done is compare a bunch of models to actual data. That's great and it does show that the greenhouse gas models are the best right now, but there are tons of ways to capture the same data. They didn't prove that people caused global warming, they proved that our best models of global warming include greenhouse gas emissions.
