I think "panned" is a relative concept here. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 51% positive rank and concidering the SF-bias in the media, I think it's probably safe to assume this is an entertaining movie for the average Star Trek fan. I'm sorry to see the Next Generation go.
So, it appears that our ancestors who lived on the land (i'm thinking like 50-75 years ago here, folks) and brought up with meat, cheese, veggies, etc are somehow less healthy? I know my grandmother is alive and kicking and she's been a meat and potatoes gal her entire life.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-vegan. I've had a number of good meals with no animal by-products. I just think you're a little short sighted here. Lack of exercize (ahh, television!)and excessive consumption (ahh, Taco Bell!) lead to overweight people, not diet alone.
Face it, as long as a movie involves some form of mental illness it's virtually a lock. How else to explain "A Beautiful Mind" winning over the most popular fantasy/fairy-tale turned extraordinary movie ever?
The thing that gets me is that in two years very few people will rememember ABM, but LOTR will be still be part of pop culture (and not just because there are two more movies in the shoot).
I have both a PS2 and a DC. I like the games I have for the DC better, but PS2 does have a few things going for it in the gfx department that the DC can't match. Most notably, is the 16x9 or anamorphic mode that many games support. If your TV supports this, you get a very crisp, clear picture.
Absolutely. With the "nForce", nVidia is promising a single driver that would support not only the mainboard and disk controllers, but also the on-board GeForce 2 GPU, Ethernet, and Sound Card. This should be a huge hit with the OEMs.
Q3A is far superior in multiplayer than any previous id project. Everything was made for multiplayer. No single-player maps forced into a frag-fest comprised of wondering when you'll run into someone, no horribly balanced weapons, and few mods. Q3A fixes all that while upping the graphical standard. You know, people always complain "Yeah, but it's just another FPS, it's not innovative", but when was the last time someone said football should start using new ideas?
I just read this in the local rag...
...are at Rotten Tomatoes.
What, you guys didn't love Juwanna Mann ?

Given that most suggestions have been based on corporate environments, how do you guys propose backing up a bunch 20-30GB of MP3's and Photos?

Agreed on all points above. I always look forward to reading the daily Bleatage on lileks.com.
