Anyone know where Microsoft's aversion to XBOX 360 + mouse
and keyboard stems from?
If MS is willing to get in bed with Claria
why not give into the dark side and add the mouse and keyboard?
A little Google research shows this is the single most
important buy no buy point on pc gamer consumer minds.
I'm willing to bet most people couldn't give a rats ass about the Aesthetics, but you
slap a mouse which is not an after thought hack on a kludge on a hack and the XBOX 360 will
sell even IF its been beaten with the ugly stick a couple of times.
...noticed 3 cats giving me the evil eye while cocking their head to the side.
Of course I meant Morse code.
Ya that's it that's the ticket!
Down kitty!
So this is what Intel meant when they said secure, secure against our competitors, Trusted as in trusted to screw with our competitors.
I don't understand initiative though nothing new from Intel.
Don't get me wrong, I think current version has indeed been embraced. I wonder though, how many programming languages were created consumed and still used today not out of capitalism, but out of anguish and pain points with the current version of C++ and the library.
And to his credit, Stroustrup is looking at the exact same thing. He's examining pain points and factoring a life time of personal knowledge into it. Also, he's not doing it in a vacuum. I guess the question what time is it? should really goto the communities who have large investments in code.
God I hope they stand up be brave grow some balls and tell him what they believe. It was my impression that most of his feedback is not from companies or awareness groups but from frustrated individuals. Not everyone who thinks they are a programmer is a programmer.
Authority to shoot down Wifi servers?
Authorities will start asking, are you writing any spy novels which may include scenes involving terroristic acts or depictions of violence and are you aware that sending or receiving such material while aboard is a Violation of the Patriot act III and may result in immediate shoot down of the aircraft and the Wifi server?
Remind me never to Fly with Tom Clancy!
Im defeding thhe FBI's right to War Fly especially cause they will do it anyway and it might save my own ass some day.
I believe plans even terrorists plans are occasionally fine tuned right before execution.
Interesting article, no attempt to learn from the mistakes other languages have made.
No observation that India/ China/ Pakistan are the new markets. No acknowledgment that the programming IT market is shrinking.
C++ was previously just lucky as its previous early adopters were not primarily professionals but were more importantly enthusiastic.
As India grows a crop of new low paid professionals just how long will C++ stand up in a world with substantially better language / framework and practical alternatives?
20 x 20 hindsight show that "No substitute exists for being in the right place at the right time"
Stroustrup forgets the time,
I've seen the worst decisions.
The worst choices and the worst outcomes exclusively from Bosses that had only one thing in common, non technical skills coupled with exceptional management skills.
Common traits of the non technical CEO
Intelligence without wisdom.
Courage without conviction.
and the worst trait
Authority without responsibility or ability or delegation skills.
Or the Golden Boy syndrome, where about every two weeks there is a new gold haired management expert to fix all that's bad where the light doth shine intensely out of his but and he can do no wrong.
A CEO should be able to do any subordinate function or at least grasp the technicalities of the tasks.
The real problem I suspect is that most CEO's, CIO etc... are obtained via agencies where the high ground is a sinkhole with respect to technical skill verifications.
Being a CEO is a like having obtained group membership in an exclusive club not a skill set, technical or otherwise.

1) Who manufactured the faulty component?
Microsoft doesn't make windows do they>?
Can we get a refund on the glass piece?
2) Was a boot foot print found on the inside of the glass piece that fell?
3) Did any one call out "Look out below! The sky IS falling!"?
4) Did the glass break?
5) Whose fingerprints were on the glass?
In all seriousness, the most important question is would this failure have been a catastrophe had the shuttle launched and it not fallen off today?
It appears Nasa is blessed enough to have some guardian angels on staff this time.

Moris code will pwn tele key pad entry soon. Other contributing factors include voice dialing which makes it even less of a problem.
I soo disillusioned now.

The government obviously can not sort it out, letting god sort it out sounds like a good alternative when lives are affected.
