    Or you design e.g. a Coca Cola ad will be published in 90 countries?

    You guys too easily "kill" companies let me say. Quark is going nowhere, people still use Quark Express .

    Its amazing people dare to say "xxx is dead" because they didn't see it running at next door pirate home user.

    They decided to race with the emperor of x86 desktop (MS) and its evil partner, Dell. Don't forget they pissed the AMD's master(who fabricates those chips?) IBM too. Oh wait, they have exclusive deal with Intel, they are directly rivaling AMD too!

    Lets hope OS X isn't really Beos Version 2 on x86.

    It will hurt me as a g5 1600 user.

    The desktop CPU competition except the duopoly of Intel and AMD is over.

    I say "desktop", e.g. guy buys a game from Blizzard, it runs without any emulation etc.

    There is no CISC and RISC competition at home anymore. There is no Altivec for home anymore.

    It became OS war now and as a ex Linux user, I know who is still number 1 desktop OS maker on planet and what SDK 99% of games run on.

    Though the Mac could benefit from Intel's chips, skeptical analysts questioned whether it was worth the risk. In the past, major transitions have led to defections by customers and software developers, said Nathan Brookwood, an analyst at the research firm Insight 64.

    In the mid-1980s, the Mac captured as much as 10 percent of the overall PC market, he said. But when Apple switched from Motorola 68000 processors to PowerPC chips, the Mac's share dropped to below 5 percent. When the Mac's operating system later changed to OS X, it fell to below 3 percent.

    "I have a lot of trouble understanding why they would do it," Brookwood said of the transition to Intel processors. "Unless there's something magical, I would have to believe it's not a good move."

    What suggests that G5 2700 is slower or same speed than 2700 mhz x86 right now? Forget everything, the FSB speed is 1 GHZ!

    You confused it. Apple switchs to Intel because:

    1) Powerbooks needs CPU upgrade, g5 doesn't fit
    2) They dream about selling home computers to Dell/Windows XP using customers
    3) They are on pot

    If I purchased a phone right now, the first thing I would look would be Bluetooth 2 compatibility which would also have Airport (802.1) compatibility.

    You buy a phone in 2005. Go with the simplest thing with latest technology built in.

    I have Nokia 7650 here, which was called "overkill" when it shipped but see, I can do marvelous things with Salling Clicker, iSync installs its own application now for top compatibility etc. Its a 2mb phone with Psiloc space doubler installed.

    Oh, I hate camera (digital anything) too but companies now include it on everything they ship, just don't use it.

    Also I see another post about Samsung people's firmware etc problems, stay away from Samsung. My fridge is even Samsung but "phone" thing is really different. Go with Sony, Nokia etc.

    I can understand your pain, I have a friend has "purchased" a regular ringtone for his phone :)

    I can't remember the brand but it didn't have anything "rings", we laughed a lot about it. As ring tone crooks carry such a thing, it must not be a rare issue btw.

    Sony Ericsson T630 is a great phone for salling clicker and iSync.

    BTW, if you ask such thing again, please tell what kind of network you use. You know, GSM phones, Verizon etc.

    I only know GSM (with EDGE,GPRS)/Symbian/J2ME World for instance.

    BTW, it has a camera but you don't have to use it :)

    Hi,

    When I finally purchased spamcop.net mail (yes,not filter,its really at imap.spamcop) I thought its better to test.

    I posted with my own mail address (as I do now) only to Slashdot and I did nothing with product registrations etc which are at my yahoo account.

    Result is funny, I actually had 3 spams and I even told it to Taco with email as its sure they are harvesting Slashdot. (lets hope he read it)

    Oh well, the good thing is, if guy is that level of moron spamming a spamcop customer, he actually uses his home machine to spam. Result: 2 of 3 of those spammers accounts have been revoked.

    Thats why "real" "pro" spammers stay away from Spamcop.net users. Its like phoning FBI and tell you have drugs to sell. No less.

    Why not? :) Lack of all games? Welll OS X does have that problem and it will be a bit hard to convince developers to make same game again for same cpu while windows/directx exists.

    So, a PS3 that time will fix that problem. Gaming problem :)

    It runs sort of PowerPC abandoned by Apple you know, the Cube.

    All the games I have on OS X are converted to PowerPC with great man power and cost.

    How to convince those companies do a schizoid thing as one directx exe and one opengl/opelal .app on same cpu?

    They had customers like me touching nothing Intel so having a PPC OS X, as they knew we don't pirate that much, they spent good money on converting the thing to PPC/OS X

    Now nothing can stop people dual booting to win32/64 and play their directx game. OS X just became another Linux or OS/2.

    Also time to speak the truth, win32 combined with DirectX will be much better for games on x86, its better right now.

    The producer of the device you bought gave up the CPU for Intel.

    Return it IMHO. No need to have questions as you have just recently bought it and doubt about a future OS on a computer you just purchased.

    If you buy Pentium 4 right now, you will be able to run the latest Win32, Linux whatever on that machine as P4 (or x86) is not going anywhere and nobody is stupid.

    PowerPC (Apple variant)? They gave up.

    G5 1600 user here from 2003

    Why would people emulate (oh its not emulator, api) directx while "the original" on "original kernel" exists?

    I don't give a F to Intels, as well as "new" Mactel, I just try to build a strategy for buying games for this year and 2006

    Give me a x86 based platform right now (for free), give me chance to select the OS, it will be Windows XP Pro with $300 worth of utility installed myself.

    Its not a troll, not flamebait or anything. Microsoft stuff "just runs" on x86s and I am not compiling anything at all.

    The huge flamewars we all made is over. Apple have a brand new rivals: Dell and Microsoft

    Should I tell who would win? :)

    How many coders out there can code purely object oriented relying on OS frameworks and got used to a elite userbase including many known, famous people requests? E.g. will Stephen King move to typewriter as he hates windows for obvious reasons? (cookie to first genius pops up and tells openoffice)

    How many people has removed CNET from bookmarks as a "IT Source" as those morons doesn't even know Intel is world's number 1 MOBILE processor maker, licensee of Arm holdings?

    Who can tell how much money has those illiterates made via amazing clicks from entire computer world?

    I got the joke but just figured Doom 3 can be used as ultimate evil testing tool.

    1) Its amazingly dark and toning is too important (brightness ratio, which can reach 4000:1 on high end, correction: VERY high end)

    2) Huge FPS rates and resolutions on high end computers

    3) Multiplatform
