I got Samsung 19" CRT and I can't buy a LCD because damn thing displays excellent.

Also I am not giving up any device unless it blows or something.

As there is a space here for 22" CRT, I may buy in future and make 19" my secondary monitor.

Yes, LCD is for low weight, space and environment. Even ILO standards, ISO standards compliance. E.g. My bank uses them happily for their purpose. ;)

I am not giving up this white background and the excellent black I am seeing now on 1280*960 32bpp.

If www.E-Ink.com finally reaches to consumer level, text based or non 30fps stuff could be fine on a e-ink panel. Its good for PDA now (another reason why I keep postponing upgrade my 7650 Nokia)

Excuse me for current LCD and plasma now.

First time in my life, I have disabled the automatic software updates on any os because of that, glad I am a versiontracker pro subscriber. It does the update checks for me.

In fact, I have a clue about what happens. If you try to get DVD Player update 4.6 and try to install in same circumstances, INSTALLER will crash. If you run Installer as ROOT (I think superuser) and open DVDPlayer update package, it won't.

Something checks its ability to work in a real harsh way bound to locale of OS and system says "back off", it has no "B plan", it crashes.

Funny is, it happened because of my (all paid, legal) policy here, OS X Panther wasn't physically HERE! So I was blamed not to pirate.

A funny fact, while it can be called crap right now, you can download IE 5 (latest) to Tiger and it works without a single alert at console.log (you know the bla bla there)

I don't know why its called crap except its performance btw, MS could even _sell_ such a browser on Win32 platform. Also, all this IE fight would not happen if it sat in its own directory doing nothing else than browsing. What would happen? Eh, the applications from so called rivals of MS would not work, Realplayer, ICQ, Winamp all rely on mshtml.dll ;)
