Well, what did you expect ? Can't have Big Brother without the tube in your home... Heck, they're spending more on trying to make us beleive that Biofuels and Hydrogen are the future, burying deep the advances in fuel cell technology that were apparent to all a few years ago, but now no longer in the spot light, you'll see paid bloggers and unenlightened minds argue that battery power is a long way off... I wonder how long Texaco will sit on the Tech that Exxon sold them ? Ref: (see "who killed the electric car, or any Popular machanics of the time...) Cheers

Last time I checked the US owned ALL of the big Packing and Slaughter houses on this side of the border. What you might consider Canadiana is no longer. Everything from Timbits to MapleLeaf is American (US) owned, if only through parent companies. I think Harvey's and its Parent company is the only remaining one around that hasn't sold out. It's sad but we've been bought out by the elephant. Realise it and act accordingly. I cringe when they call us USjr but hey, it's true. We are inundated by images nowadays... It doesn't matter how remote something is, and what happened there, we want a full panavision image of it pronto from CNN or with beach babe added from FOX.
No, seriously, with all the bogus information we get from our respective governments it isn't at all surprising that the disenfranchised might suspect everything under the Sun (or Moon). Maybe they (the US) should send a High Yield full spec package to take snaps of previous holidays spent on the moon for the kids back home. Anyways, there are enough peeps that avoid *any* obstacles and would rather pay through the nose to avoid having to even install a ATI Vid update, and this is where all this Vista stuff comes in. I shudder at the thought of all my evening clients surprising me with Vista on their PC's next time they call me in for a fix...
The Comic I'm sure is just another easy swing and pitch reminder that they're still working on making it tough on potential (Vista/mp3/avi/mpg/best friend's sister's bra hooks) hackers.
After the third week of release to the public, when the European (or whatever) hacker community releases a completely defanged Vista, we'll see how many peeps with already Pirated XP go for it. Seems no one remembers that the REAL Reason Win95 made big was because it became the most pirated OS of all time, locking in thousands if not millions of peeps in Microsoft's clutches at work, on their second PC's, and on their original PC's right after going to confession. Even a dealer knows the first taste has to be free.
This Cat and Mouse DRM and cripple ware drama is just that...Publicity Drama...**yawn**
"It's a great gaming OS" How do you know this ? From the Betas and RC's ??!! Doesn't it take a extended amount of time and follow through to judge performance ? Vista still has to go through one generation of games before we judge it on anything... OK, games advertised as coming out as DX10 only games will need it, but stop continuing the hype that this still "untested" OS is the cats meow for games...or anything else for that matter....wait a year then we'll see. I hate reviews before the end of the first act.
Play your fiddles while Rome burns... The usual suspects will be burnt at the stake... The problem is we spend too much time dealing with psychopaths bent on profiteering and by the time we get the public on the bandwagon it's too late... Remember that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers warned about disaster way before Katrina...From July 23-27, 2002, Reporters John McQuaid and Mark Schleifstein ran a five-part series called "Washing Away" in the New Orleans Times-Picayuneran with some quite convincing facts...the warnings were all there....didn't change a thing...start buying stocks in Bottled Water !
It was a high priority update that bollucked more than a handful of my home clients... I remove it before I do anything else (search for spywares, update AV and so on...) As far as work is concerned, I work for the Canadian gov, and we're still using WIN2000/IE6 Corp with no near plans to upgrade to either IE7 or Vista. I wouldn't mind XP on the workstations, but Vista/IE7 if definitely not in the cards...I figure sometime soon we'll need it for functionality, but hopefully that will be a long time in coming...There's no way we'll be getting anything to replace IE though, Firefox/Opera would be nice but the red tape would plunge me into a warp breach.
Can't we just rely on those good old folks from squaresoft and the existing (surviving) voice actors ? Who needs face actors anymore when a film like Final Fantasy X showed us that voice acting may be the future ? All in all though.... cool cool cool cool... 43 and still trekkin' !

In 'that Speech', Bush calls Iraq, Iran and North Korea the "Axis of Evil" -- N.Y. Times, 1/30/02
ANGERED BY SNUBBING, LIBYA, CHINA SYRIA FORM
"AXIS OF JUST AS EVIL"
Cuba, Sudan, Serbia Form Axis of Somewhat Evil; Other Nations Start Own Clubs. Beijing (SatireWire.com) - Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil," Libya, China, and Syria today announced they had formed the "Axis of Just as Evil," which they said would be way eviler than that stupid Iran-Iraq-North Korea axis President Bush warned of in his State of the Union address. Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new axis as having, for starters, a really dumb name. "Right. They are Just as Evil... in their dreams!" declared North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il. "Everybody knows we're the best evils... best at being evil... we're the best."
Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, although they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil. "They told us it was full," said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"An Axis can't have more than three countries," explained Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. "This is not my rule, it's tradition. In World War II you had Germany, Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis. So you can only have three - and a secret handshake. Ours is wicked cool."
THE AXIS PANDEMIC
International reaction to Bush's Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as within minutes, France surrendered.
Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed to gain triumvirate status in what became a game of geopolitical chairs. Cuba, Sudan, and Serbia said they had formed the 'Axis of Somewhat Evil', forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the 'Axis of Occasionally Evil', while Bulgaria, Indonesia and Russia established the 'Axis of Not So Much Evil Really As Just Generally Disagreeable'.
With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up, Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the 'Axis of Countries That Aren't the Worst But Certainly Won't Be Asked to Host the Olympics'; Canada, Mexico, and Australia formed the 'Axis of Nations That Are Actually Quite Nice But Secretly Have Nasty Thoughts About America', while Spain, Scotland, and New Zealand established the 'Axis of Countries That Be Allowed to Ask Sheep to Wear Lipstick'. "That's not a threat, really, just something we like to do, said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack McConnell. While wondering if the other nations of the world weren't perhaps making fun of him, a cautious Bush granted approval for most axes, although he rejected the establishment of the 'Axis of Countries Whose Names End in "Guay", accusing one of its members of filing a false application.
Officials from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chadguay denied the charges. Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn't want to join any Axis, but privately, world leaders said that's only because no one asked them.
Brilliant ! But I do think the MPAA shock troops might be readying to invade should the sale go through... Should prove interesting if tourism hits big.... Fire Marshal will have a hell of a time figuring out max capacity on that thing !
