    Gas engines emit almost entirely CO2 and water, and the other stuff is of no import since small planes a completely negligible source of pollutants. A hideously expensive electric small plane thus serves no purpose other than bragging rights.

    There is ignorance, all right, between your ears. All languages have security flaws and need constant patches. PHP has robust and well tested frameworks with libraries to sanitise potentially dangerous input. There is nothing that can be done in say Ruby (my favorite language) that cannot also be done well in PHP. PHP now even has closures, lamda, internal iterators....

    http://php.net/license/index.php PHP has a license which must be respected by law. Certain parts of it have various licenses too. These are Open Source licenses, and as such have many benefits. Nevertheless, there are licenses.

    Environmentally unfriendly low-density batteries with very limited capacity, plus a gasoline engine that can efficiently go over 2x the range and emits water and carbon dioxide. who needs the expensive electrical system, braggers? Small planes are not even a minor source of pollution compared to fossil power plants, automobiles, and ground transport.

    nonsense, the list of polished popular average-user distros is very, very short. what about Windows Enterprise or Ultimate for work? what about home or home premium or 32 bit or 64 bit? each with its quirks and issues. at least with GNU/Linux no money is wasted getting the wrong version. You are just a fucking whiner. And at work I'm having trouble with Windows 7 EE because even in compatibility modes some wares that are supposed to work don't. fucking expensive garbage, that MS shit.

    well, for starters, how about actually waging war on those who attacked us? bin Laden, Al Qaeda, and the taliban that hosted them left Afghanistan. ol Bin L was chilling and watching porn and porking his young wives for years after, laughing at us turning places where Al Q never was into Al Q recruiting grounds (e.g. Iraq and some others). years later, we label as that same "taliban" other groups disgruntled with foreign invaders, and in fact are negotiating with "taliban" because of course we will never "win" in Afghanistan.     It is also not capitalism when a global banking cartel substitutes debt-as-money for real money. It is not capitalism when corporations are given the same rights as we the people. Our large corporations including the banking cartel have become monsters, the enemies of true capitalism, parasites that rob the people of life, liberty and wealth.

    You have the blindness so typical of libertarians and present-day Republicans who imagine themselves capitalists and conservative. You are ignorant of the fact that business can become anti-capitalist and/or fascist. You imagine that anyone who decries evil that corporations do must be marxist or socialist.

    Small and medium sized business did the good things of which you speak. But the mega-corporations have taken over government, they enslave, kill and maim for profit, they seize wealth and are parasites. It is not capitalism when lawmakers are bought and made to produce laws which suppress small business, and destroy incentives for individuals to engage in capitalism. It is not capitalism when ethnic groups are made fodder for a private prison system.

    we've been able to build computers within computers for decades. And, are you implying the Analytical Engine could not virtualize itself if one built with big enough "store"? seems to be a matter of just working within a given offset within the store for each virtual AE for each instruction/data stream for of the three card readers.

    Corporations do indeed do all evil they can get away with. In the USA, we have corporations mass murdering (in other countries) for profit. We have corporations poisoning people for profit because they can. We have jails run by private contractors so certain minorities are made to be prisoners, because they can get away with it, and thus we have the largest percentage of imprisoned adults in the "free world" (ha). How naive are you?

    that's not even true, there are plenty of constructed by postulate math systems that don't correspond to any part of the real world. math, like science, is an invention of the human mind. parts of both might be useful in modeling the real world, but other parts do not or are discovered to be incorrect.

    that old nonsense? battery technology at the time was indeed not ready for practical use in automobile, woefully inefficient example from the last 100 years nonwithstanding. big oil investors will invest in something that can make money, not pie-in-the sky.
