    I've never seen a motherboard *without* a parallel port or serial. they're not connected, but they are there. hell, my two month old motherboard with the trendy eSata and DVI for six core chip has floppy and "game" port on it!

    Governor Rick Perry of Teax in announced plans including tanks and warplanes to protect the USA from Los Zetas if the Mexican government collapsed. Los Zetas was formed in 1999 and is getting bigger. so they are having growth problems....what was your point?

    the complaint I have is kids sitting like lumps all the time instead of wanting to do something requiring even a little bit of activety. that's very unhealthy. well, at least some video games require jumping and moving arms, let's hope that technology keeps raising the bar in activity.

    one easy way, especially for big corporations, is to quiesce the database and take snapshot or clone with your SAN controller or host based storage manager, or don't quiesce it and just run recovery on the snapped image if you ever need it.

    I'm looking at the two speeches. Both have "america the beautiful" lyrics at start, big deal. The 2nd paragraph have some similar parts and same idea but King's has better adjectives. Then there's the 3rd paragraph of Kings which Carey doesn't have......not plagiarism.

    you're not thinking fourth-dimensionally, Marty. All you need is a stinky reporting database accessed from web server, that happens to have read-only link to the mission critical one. Then SQL injection attack on web server to wind up the SCN number....

    there are other ways for ordinary users to ratchet up the SCN number, including the example in article given of a read-only linked reporting database having its transactions/sec pumped up

    there are plenty of other ways to perform hot backups than the ALTER DATABASE/TABLESPACE BEGIN BACKUP way.
