Yes, I did this kind of thing when my daughter was 14 to 16.
I would say, "This lady has to work 5 days to make what you will make in 1 day with a degree."
I would say, "This trip is costing $300 per person per day. If you don't get a degree, you'll never be able to do things like this on your own."
I would say, "They get to go to cool parties, they may get to travel to cool places inexpensively for having sex with the person taking them. They get no respect and are often very unhappy by the time they are 30 and then it's very hard for them to recover".
She got a degree, she worked during college, she graduated into a job and has seen a regular stream of promotions.
The first time your boss tells you that you have to work on a holiday, or when you had plans that will become clear to you. Your boss is just a slave overseeing slaves. There are very few jobs that really deserve feeling proud about any more than a pet should be proud when it shakes your hand.
Live on half of what you make and you could be free by the time you are in your late 40's. Live on all you make and you will be a slave until you die.
They are in the legitimate business of selling sex. That's limited to wearing skimpy out fits and standing around next to products so they make less than women in the illegitimate sexual businesses.
Sounds like it pays less, involves a lot more standing but may lead to better legitimate jobs, invitations to cool parties, less arrests, less likelihood of being arrested, getting std's, and other negative consequences.
From the figures quoted, they make about 5% to 20% and even on a good day they make less than people with an education. However, I imagine this gets them a shot at being a model or a movie star, so they are gambling that they will be the.0001% who "hits it big" and becomes a millionaire.
There is an oversupply of pretty girls willing to stand around all day or the rates would be higher.
Oh... like the poster below, I often find that a workout can shake the bad feelings off. Often a tapotement (beating) massage does too. Male bodies need to be roughed up a bit to feel happy.
Both of these activities cause a natural flood of happy chemicals in your body - if your body is capable of producing them.
It could be a matter of finding the right drug.. or the right supplement.
I have used supplements to cure in a medical way, gout, high blood pressure, and hemorrhoids. By "medical", I mean the results were very fast and repeatable. Not, "take this for 60 days and there will be a 5% improvement".
The esteem issues may be related or unrelated to your depression. You might be able to reduce the size of your emotional problems slightly and make the total load easier. Esteem issues are often parent related. If you have any open issues with your parents, you might be able to resolve those and get some closure.
I had work induced depression last year and had to go on anti anxiety and anti depression medication. I'm still left with sleeplessness now that we are past that period. I think my adrenal glands are still messed up from so much stress. And the hemorrhoids came from sitting in a hard plastic chair for 70 hours a week for several months.
I hope you find something that helps. It sounds like you are intelligent, rational and successful.
Agreed- just realize that if the tax is $640, then the average care provided must cost must be under $640.
And we need to be really careful we don't run up a bill on our kids and grandkids and then leave them holding the bag. One way to prevent that would be to allot estate tax to fund part of the medical system.
Right now, the government makes you spend through your cash and sell your house before the healthcare becomes free.
However, we can't afford to give everyone $100,000,000 of health care. We need to decide what we can afford and then give within that budget ala Kansas.
Otherwise, it just turns into yet another iteration of the current generation robbing the next generation to pay for their health care.
For one thing, mandating that people purchase products means that they could mandate that we purchase pepsi products instead of coca cola products and that's not currently constitutional.
We need national health insurance. The current system is turning into a cleverly designed system of wage slavery. Work or die.
But it should be limited-- something like $5k per year and a $100k cap.
If you want more, you buy it privately. But if you are unemployed and break your leg, you should be able to get it set.
Yahweh, the god of the bible is who they believe did this.
Not Shiva. Not some random god.
They may wave hands a bit on "Allah" but the fact is most christians beliefs are exclusive of islamic beliefs. The islamics will go to hell or purgatory. The christians will go to a lower level of heaven (at best) or hell.
--- They willfully ignore mountains of hard facts which they could observe themselves directly in order to maintain this belief. Even tho the conclusion from that is that Yahweh for some unknown reason decided to create all kinds of false evidence of an older earth and to create dna patterns which are very similar to apes.
---
There is a huge gap from "a god created the universe" to "the god of the bible created the universe and wants us to worship it, ordered hebrew tribes to slaughter men, women, "suckling babies", and old people, ordered them to not mix two types of cloth, and had a few dozen kids attacked by bears for mocking elijah. Killed 99% of humans at least once- perhaps twice, and then repeatedly engaged in infanticide and genocide.
Sure-- an unknown god may have created the universe-- but that doesn't mean it is yahweh.
Most Theists disbelieve every god but one. Atheists just beleive in one less god than theists.
It's purely a matter of saying it bluntly instead of trying to say it cleverly.
You can't say, "You MUST pay $640 to buy health insurance"-- unconstitutional.
But...
You can say, "You MUST give the federal government $640 per year in taxes. The Federal government will provide you health care. There will be tax exemptions for people whose income is low". -- constitutional
Lol. It's trivially easy to use Google to find all kinds of infringing material including torrents.
However, google does also have a legitimate business-- showing car ads to people who search for car information, showing vitamin ads to people searching for vitamins.
It is a bit creepy tho. A friend of mine had a bug problem so I searched for bug info and suddenly every site I visited was throwing up bug ads to me.
"http://youtu.be/TCbFEgFajGU As it says "Immigration attorneys from Cohen & Grigsby explains how they assist employers in running classified ads with the goal of NOT finding any qualified applicants, and the steps they go through to disqualify even the most qualified Americans in order to secure green cards for H-1b workers. See what Bush and Congress really mean by a "shortage of skilled U.S. workers." Microsoft, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, and thousands of other companies are running fake ads in Sunday newspapers across the country each week.""
Removing all the infringing copyrighted content on Youtube would basically kill it and the copyrighted content would just go elsewhere- probably like a Mirv'd cluster bomb.
I go to You tube most often to see copyrighted songs with lyrics so I can sing them.
Then I go for instructional videos which would probably remain but which get a fraction of the hits.
Absolutely.. Right now, light is consistently arriving from all over the universe with a multi billion year history.
Heck, they can even look into the past by collecting light reflected from past objects to rebuild images older than the light we are recieving directly.
Apparently the universe created with all light- from every possible direction - consistent on opposite sides of the earth, in distant space- to create the illusion that the universe was billions of years old. Why would a diety do such a thing? If so, creating a false evolutionary record is trivial in comparison... but again-- why?
Actually, I can say from 30 years experience with IT, working under dreadful conditions duplicates the college experience fairly well.
You learn a lot, really fast. You learn some things, you might never learn. I'm 18 months into this project and I have superior skills to 15 of 17 people we interviewed who had 6 years experience.
I agree-- I was thoroughly had. But...
I am vested in a pension (rare) and every year, my pension benefit is equivalent to saving another $60,000.
I have four weeks vacation-- couldn't take them for that period but now that things are getting better I'm taking them.
I need another six months until I have sufficient clock time and i want to get some more training.
They have golden handcuffed us with some shares but it's pretty pathetic amount. I wouldn't stay for them. It's only $5k per year after 3 years and they could stop it at any time.
I stayed because I could see that things were so bad that it couldn't continue. And it didn't. Now we are overstaffed, back on schedule, working 40-42 hour weeks except one weekend per quarter, which is typical IT.
I know at the 6 month mark that some of the women were still stay at home moms. I don't have track of them after that.
But the question is why are the women not in IT? Because when the working conditions get tough- women leave at a higher rate than men. And things do get unreasonable in IT compared to other fields.
We are in a brutal project for the last 15 months. Basically underbid by 50% to 100%. We've been forced to work over 150%-- nights -- weekends-- multiple periods where we worked every day for 25-28 days straight without a break. Told we could not call in sick unless we were going the hospital (legal!) and been denied vacation (also legal!)
A lot of men and women are getting grief from their spouses and have left for other positions in equal numbers.
During that time over 10% of the women had babies and after being home six weeks, chose to remain a stay at home mom and not come back.
Some of the women were fairly senior. 10 years experience. Didn't matter. They will not be building up the skills that would get them to the next level.
Not a single man has quit due to a new child.
80-90% of the women stayed.
But over time, this means more men in the IT workforce.
Most men do not have the same option to just quit working and raise the baby while the woman goes back to work. A few do- things are changing- but it is much less common.
Things are starting to get better. All of us who stayed and toughed it out will have experience that would make it easier to get primo jobs now. Some will go on to be managers, directors, and even CIO's.
Face it, we need at most less than 10 english language papers.
There is no need to have 63 copies of the same AP articles and random articles about someone 1,000 miles away getting robbed or murdered.
Plus, the news is so CLEARLY propaganda these days, that the people pushing the propaganda better pay for it, or why bother consuming it.
There is a huge glut of news (and every other form of entertainment.) It must fall in price.
It can do so now because instead of selling to 100,000 readers, it's selling to 1,000,000 readers. But it can't make 10x the money. It's not sustainable. The profits are too high and someone else will come in and undercut you.
4.5% tax free municipal bonds which are A to AA rated come on the market at least once a week. You have to look at the municipality and do a reality check of course (I wouldn't be buying detroit bonds unless they were over 8%.. and probably not then!)
I avoid AAA rated. Insurance causes falsely high ratings.
So you need to have it at least validated by a licensed electrition if you are in a municipality.
Also, if you don't set it up right, when power fails, you are sending power into lines which the technitions think are empty.
This requires a switchback circuitbreaker. Which means your entire house has to be brought up to code and costs (at last check) between $2k and $3k.
Do it yourself types can do a lot of the work but currently- all the panels I know require soldering (sp) - I think for efficiency reasons. What I would like is plug and play. Just mount the units on a frame/roof, then plug them together.
My current best thought (being in a hot climate) is grid independent daytime solar powered air conditioning. This would keep your house cooler (no damage to wine as a bonus!) and prevent your central AC unit from turning on-- or running all day.
One note, the risk of fatality falling off roofs is very real for solar installers. More die from that than die from any electrical problems.
I will put in some solar when it hits the right price. Right now, I can put the money I would put into solar into a tax free muni bond and end up with "free electricity" plus an extra $950 per year cash in my pocket.
Right now, given $40k, I can get a consistent, tax free, risk free return of $1,800. I'm getting that now in fact.
That's more than my electric bill.
Due to the drop in natural gas prices, 10 cfl bulbs, six LED bulbs, and some shopping around, my electric bill is down to $880 per year- and that's locked in for three years. That's in a climate that is over 90 degrees for about 100 days a year.
Right now, I've gotten a much bigger return from buying six quality LED bulbs and putting them in the lights in my house which are on a lot than I ever could from solar. And I can afford that for $23 per bulb.
I still want to go solar. But it doesn't make sense financially.
Alternatively, I was planning on going solar without batteries to just lower the "premium" portion of the electric bills but at this point, my annual savings would be under $200 at a cost of over $5000.
If they ever get a turnkey system that costs $1000 and will drive a 13,500 btu window unit- with a durable capacitor instead of batteries, that might work. I've seen examples with 6 or 8 panels driving one successfully.
You are mostly right... but they'd still be rich, and the company would have 160 new cell towers in key locations where it would improve bandwidth... which would probably convince more people to use that company as their provider.
I left AT&T over the higher cost of their service COMBINED with bandwidth caps.
Now I'm with Sprint which is substantially cheaper AND has unlimited bandwidth. I'll be with sprint at least 2 years. And I'm not even in New York where i hear the suffering of AT&T iphone users is pretty mighty.
A fairer historical salary would be 50x for the ceo (so about 3.5 million) and proportionally less for the folks udner him. So total compensation, at 1978 levels would probably be about 35 million. Still quite nice salary.
The CEO has been captured by a tiny group of society. They are being grossly overpaid. There are millions of equally qualified CEOs around the world who make much less. And their companies are going to own our companies lunch due to that cost advantage.
There are also male promotional models. Lots of them.
http://www.newfaces.com/blogs/2011/05/14/abercrombies-101-shirtless-male-models/
They'll become more common as women come to dominate the buying power (since they are getting degrees at a higher rate).
http://thequeerofallmedia.blogspot.com/2012/01/english-male-model-sam-way-super-hot.html
Most appear to be selling speedo's. :-)
It doesn't bother me that men are exploited this way. We are all exploited in different ways until we become financially independent.
Yes,
I did this kind of thing when my daughter was 14 to 16.

Everything is a teaching opportunity.
99% of us are all slaves.

Semantic difference.

That's odd. Most fruit juices are basically sugar water with no nutritional value.
Any drink with zero calories should be exempt.

It doesn't correlate.
I have an $1800 velocity sitting dead in the living room waiting for a reinstall when I get the time. Meanwhile my $499 HP continues to chug away.
Meanwhile... I have a new 2560x1440 monitor that neither will push. I need a box with a gx670.
The only reason to buy an expensive rig is if you are a power gamer and need 120fpx at 1960x1080.
For all other purposes, other cheaper machines do the job these days.
