Way back when they had the lottery, the one where you could win a free trip to 'Nam for your eighteenth birthday (this was way before PowerBall) the local Selective Service boards were routinely getting lists of eligible young men from public high schools. It wasn't considered any big deal. They actually prosecuted guys who failed to register. I had friends who left the country, who went to jail, and who got shot. But things have gotten much better. Now, to get kids killed far from home, you have to ask them first, or at least tell them it's just like the video games you've been peddling.

We should all be so lucky, that would be worth watching, quite unlike the 98% of the news and entertainment marketing propaganda we get now. And to think, people are actually worried about establishing a legal right to make more copies.

If it comes from Hollywood, or CNN, or Fox,r AOL, or Hearst, or really anyone with enough of a vested interest to put assert a property right on it you can bet it's 100% sanctified bullshit or else designed to sell you something. Are we all really this starved for entertainment that we have to haggle about the right to copy "Bewitched"?

If you're not sure the answer is probably yes. It's still a pretty tough economy out there and unless you have something better lined up, which you didn't indicate, or can get by without an income you may have been hasty. If you have obligations like a family I might even say irresponsible. My take on it is that the only reason to bail from a job, short of retirement, is for a better one. If you go out with nothing, you stand a good chance of actually winding up doing worse work for less money with nastier people which I'm sure is not what you intended. But hey, writing a resume can a growth experience. Sending out hundreds will help you learn to cope with rejection. You'll come out of this with important new self-knowledge.
