    And I bet a big believer in ethics in game journalism, too.

    Not a poor thing. Just like everyone else. Probably less than some, more than others. I'm not complaining. Wouldn't do any good anyhow. We all are victims of discrimination at some point. Part of life. Just un-bunch your panties and go on. The best way to stop discrimination is to - stop it. No restricting guys to force women into something they don't want. If they want it, they can do it and don't need help. Believe me, they're smart. In fact we shouldn't help them. People don't appreciate things as much that way.

    Facts are facts however and males are outnumbered on campuses because of "helping women." There is a lot of systemic discrimination against males and I'm sure you know it if you think about it.

    Can't comment on game journalism. I know nothing about it. This is slashdot after all. Not into big games, into smaller amateur sports. However if it's like normal journalism, it's crap. Nothing to do with reality.

    toilets and showers are less than 0.5% of the use, so low flow heads will do nothing.

    Good ideas. However the low flow heads do something. They piss off the person using them. I know. I have one and I hate it. Switching to other brands doesn't seem to make a difference. When I visit Florida, they have real heads and WHOA, what a difference! Thatsa shower!

    Not only is there no scientific proof, there is no science. Remember in grade school where they taught the scientific method? Well they've shot that to hell over and over by their models. In fact the last report said they don't know why things aren't a lot warmer given the level of co2 in the atmosphere, yet they are even more sure it's causing it. Ok, that removes all their credibility. They're into religion now. Follow the money.

    Just a matter of time before this MM GW is debunked and people will want to kick your ass for even hinting they believed in MMGW. Sort of like still believing in Santa at the age of 25.

    They're about making money from crazy lefties. I remember before 2001 they were caught falsifying testimony in Arizona to try to make a certain animal an endangered species. They were doing this with data where the animal wasn't native to, so of course they're scarce there. They got exposed. Same with logging and not letting the forest service set things right. Instead they grow up spindly and tend to catch on fire. Of course - they stopped logging and lost the forest.

    So don't donate to them thinking your helping the environment. You aren't.

    Really tired of us in the computer biz enabling people to do stupid things that we can prevent. SSL 3.0 is vulnerable, really sucks. Update it to disable/remove it. If it's disabled, make them swear to God that they really know what they are doing to get it back. Don't let them click through.

    We went through this with the Format command. At first you would type in format a:. Unfortunately format defaulted to your current drive so if you typed in format, it clobbered C:. So they added a "are you sure". C: got clobbered. Then they had us type in the volume name, c: still got clobbered. Fool proof, only idiot resistant.

    I remember a chick sending out notices on what was being backed up. For years. A guy lost around 6 TB of data. HUH? Not backed up? Turned out she had just sent it a week before. He didn't even bother to look at it. She said - TS. Read your e-mail next time. It took him about 6 months to get that data back.

    Years ago me and a bunch of other guys were thinking of offering an idiots class. Where they can ignore things and deal with the consequences of their stupidity. Never went anywhere. We'd have to do the whole population. Starting with politicians. You know, the dumbest of the dumb. First lesson - you should have all your government e-mail on a private server. If you answer yes, you have to donate $10,000 to your political foe. Answer yes a second time and you have to vow to resign in 30 days, never to return to politics. I had a lot better suggestions here... though not for a possible young audience.

    History shows us that a company like apple gets one shot when the market is already owned by someone else like Android. If there's a problem due to their carelessness, the banks could simply shut them down cold and demand big changes before they take a dime again. I'd hope Apple would be smart enough to know that. Someone should have told them to feel free to comment, no goons are here. We really want to know. Now they could be done.

    Real shame, I own quite a few Apple products. Just not like they used to be. I'm wondering if I'll own any apple products by 2020.

    There's virtually no excuse to be running a website without SSL. It doesn't matter what kind of site you run. It should really be law that all sites on the internet move to SSL.

    Think before you write. A lot of sites provide information to the public that is public use. Commerce agencies for example, IRS with their tax forms, even the White House's site. Why encrypt it? Want the information, just get it yourself or go to the library for a hard copy. No need for the extra overhead. Right now is tax time, do we really want to pay for the hardware to encrypt public forms? Only if you have stock in say Big-IP.

    1) Is it right to do this? Of course, I can show you Baltimore City - doesn't have DP and Baltimore County - does have DP. That political line is like magic with crime. No doubt about it, it is a deterrent. The rest of the world that did away with the DP need to admit they are wrong. No shame in admitting you're wrong as long as you truly believed you were right all along.
    2) How to do it - They have got to be kidding. There are so many ways that I know of I can hardly count them all. Some very very cruel, some they wouldn't even know. So let's visit some:
        A) Hang 'em, hang 'em high! This is the way it SHOULD be done. On a national holiday. Sell tickets. Let people see morality and how horrible it is. Not in some back room where nobody sees it. We'll get a lot more respect for one another. Maybe we as a society won't be so eager to kill each other via wars. A lot to ask I know, we seem to really like to kill each other.
        B) Shoot 'em via firing squad. I'm against this one because that's a soldiers death. They shouldn't have that honor.
        C) Shoot 'em in the back of the head in their cell - acceptable. They'll never see it coming.
        D) Gas - take your pick. Chloroform, Ether, heck even a computer duster can be used. More toxic ones can be nasty. Chloro used to be used for patients.
        E) Drowning - Easy to implement. Steel tube, grate on top, flood it. Drowns like a rat. So many ways for this one.
        F) poison - any farm has this stuff.

          And so on. I'm sure there are prisons with people that have all kinds of good ideas on how to kill someone.

    That's because you were asleep in history class. The United States was ruled by the most powerful Army and Navy in the world at the time. It was because we were armed that we could fight for our freedom. Look into history, look into how and why. It's very interesting. Also, understand that gun control is racist and why. You don't want to be a racist bigot asshole, do you? Then you can't be for gun control.

    You do realize she'd set this server up in 2009 and left in Feb 2013? So she continued to use her own server her last five months, rather than do a disruptive move to the State server, when she already knew she was leaving in a few months. Your point?

    I think you're fooling yourself. I remember e-mails being in the news way back when Ronny was President. Remember Iran Contra? Remember Billy Boy's dealing and e-mails, which Hilary was a part of by the way? GW and e-mail?

    She knew what she was doing. She just didn't have someone competent set it up, clearly.

    Of course all of this is really beside the point. It was a carefully timed leak (IMHO by the White House, a certain woman there) to the NY Times to take her out of the running early. Make way for the people they really want to finish destroying the country. Not that it matters, nobody in Washington seems to care about the country anymore with very few exceptions.

    Really? Looked it up. CPSC has banned the sale, the US and Canada won't allow you to bring them into the country. However I'm having a tough time finding something that says it's illegal to use them. Some states have a warning to keep them from kids. Sort of like hand wringing along with pellet guns, knives, other stuff.. but doesn't say it's illegal. I can't even find something in California making it illegal to use them.

    Heck of a lot of fun to use them. I used them when I repaired them a few years ago. Before that, probably not since the 1970s. That and the other terrible thing - horseshoes. Why that could KILL a kid!

    Honestly... make things so safe nothing bad can happen, life isn't worth living.

    The motor ether - Hot start, other names. Usually near the diesel section of the automotive store. Great stuff. I have a few cans in the garage. Great with a lighter as well. Remember as a kid I did a demo with another kid. Shot about 15' across the room setting some bedding covers on fire. Nothing a knife wouldn't scrape off... Parents never knew. Then there was the stuff I did in high school. Wonder I didn't get in trouble.

    I've talked to men who were the captain of an aircraft carrier, battleship and submarine. A battleship isn't obsolete, only stupid people think that. Why? because a battleship can do things nothing else can. Like pound a position for weeks or months using cheap shells. Also, nothing intimidates like a battleship. They are also a lot more versatile than a carrier. The captain of a battleship said we're fools for removing them from the inventory.

    Subs likewise aren't obsolete. It's a race to be sure. They build detectors, we find countermeasures. Guess wrong and you die. It isn't worth it.

    Here's a thought - stop being dumbasses and try to get along with other people. American, Iranian, Chinese, Russian, we're all the same when you get down to it. We all put our pants on the same way, grow up in a very similiar manner. Why try to kill each other? Just a thought.

    I have a feeling your asking for the wrong person. I know from experience you'll get a lot who are just unqualified even with a very good description. However I'm having no trouble with new hires and encryption. Key I think is they must know unix/linux. As long as it has that in the description I generally don't have a problem. If I ask for a Windows person, forgetaboutit! They're morons generally speaking. This goes right along with the general windows user - they're a moron too. I know, being captain obvious here. I bet I go through 100 windows applicants to find one that's any good.

    Don't comment about stuff you know nothing about.

    PKI is everywhere. You use it all the time and you don't even know it, obviously.

    I set this stuff up all the time. From simple web site to ldap/dap authentication to some really big stuff.

    When I hire even tier-1 type people (deal with idiots on the phone), they have to show me they can deal with at least a web server pki. They're a dime a dozen.
