A very nice summary. This is exactly why we must all make our friends/family use this beautifully fast, functional, and secure browser. Make FireFox the majority, everyone.
Man, you are so fucking socialized. No one instinctively knows murdering is wrong. I bet your among the camp that believes the Nazis were spawn of satan or some such bullshit. Nope, they were taught that Jews were not really human, so killing them didn't matter, just like you or I could've been taught.
So, the question becomes: does a game influence behavior? I have seen some studies (Observational Learning - Albert Bandura) that would conclude that this is the case. I do agree that a kid shouldn't play these games if he is being raised by an incompetant parent, otherwise he should've learned the differences between "right and wrong" well before being able to grasp the concept of this game.
Oh, and as to not publishing something because it doesn't serve the greater good (paying taxes for cops so we shouldn't have a game in which killing them is an objective).. I'm pretty sure we were living in a Democracy last time I checked. I think there is a shitload of stuff that could easily be done away with if we pursued your line of thought. For example, why don't we do away with NASCAR since it is counterproductive with efforts to reduce speeding?
If we can't tell the difference between reality and fiction, then we are in a shitload of trouble.
Man XBox controllers suck the big one. They are SO bulky and lame. Playstation controllers are so much more 1337. Oh, and they're easier to use on a computer: http://www.zen35383.zen.co.uk/stnield/usbpads.htm
Does it integrate with Portage? No. So it really doesn't provide a distro-free solution, in that all it can accomplish at most with a system like Gentoo is allowing you to install something without the system knowing it's there (psst: it isn't that hard to compile source). So ten days (or months) later, you try to install another package, it clobbers this unnsupported software, and you have to go find it again. This = lameness.
Well, when you pay for a service such as Yahoo Shopping, you don't just pay for software. In addition to secure code, you get to hop on the advertising bandwagon, as it were. A free cart on a site doesn't do you much good if you never get any traffic.
I concur; there is too much bad writing out there, surely we can't let Slashdot degenerate. It's one of the last refuges of technological information that is not profuse with jargon.
And I was responding to the noob that wasn't giving accurate numbers for bytes, by telling him that he was specifying BITS instead. Thanks for trying though noob.
Stop doing cocaine man, that shit will kill you.
Hey, just so you know, beta came out before vhs. Check your facts next time, noober.
... being able to spend all your money on your child who then moves away and sees you maybe once a year? Yeah, that's well worth it.
So, if I were going to model myself after Spock, should I get some cosmetic surgery on my ears? Will that help me to emulate the great one?
Seriously, I hope this is troll bait, and not the product of actual reasoning.

That book is overrated anyway.

Nope... 1,000 = 1 kiloBIT 1,000,000 = 1 megaBIT 1,000,000,000 = 1 gigaBIT
