Actually Intel and AMD launched their Dualies the same week, and infact Intel beat AMD by about a day. The fact that AMD's offerings are technically more advanced is what matters.
These are new Chipsets which support those new CPUs.
He basicly points out that a lot of the things the guy says are not Windows spesific at all, such as RAM, BIOS versions, different hardware etc. It's worth noting that just becuase Apple brands a product identically and doesn't tell you what's in it it doesn't mean it's the same thing (Different mainboards for PowerMac systems etc)
I'd say this would be a step forward to greater device intergration - an open source of version of a program like iSync with compatibility with propretary methods and cables of syncing data.
Maybe a plugin for the new Thunderbird/Lightning project which syncs contacts, dates and messages with Nokia phones?
Actually one of the reasons IBM isn't such a major player in the PC market despite having invented the damn things is becuase it wouldn't switch to x86... "a la 486 is good enough."
Even if Sony did feel strongly against it (which I doubt they do, because it's a good idea when you don't have a major OS being made or your platform - look at FreeBSD & PPC = OS X) I doubt they'd say anything - Sony, especially their Home Entertainment division seem to be pretty good with their geek PR - anyone remember the PS2 Linux kit?
The information will be gathered directly from uplinks to the human cerebral cortex. Bill Gates was heard commenting: "Never send a human to do a machine's job..."
I think the idea was that people are having trouble with it because it can't be turned off. I'm sure that even the most hating AC on Slashdot would like to have Spotlight sitting next to his menus if there was no performance hit, but there is a point where the performance hit caused by having an indexing service constantly running unnessecarily in the background and eating your res makes it a bad thing.
Sony will be shipping cell workstations, basicly because they're needed for PS3 game development and I would expect IBM not to want to throw away their multibillion dollar investment, so Cell desktops would be an evolutionary thing when they make it into workstations.
It's the best real world example of the metaphor of sitting an infinite number of chimps at an infinite number of typewriters for an infinite ammount of time and knowing for certain that eventually one of them will create a work of Shakespeare to date.
It was rumoured a while back that Apple had an x86 internal build of OS X. It's not unlikely becuase of it's FreeBSD roots that it was part of the development cycle at least for the early versions of OS X. (I don't see why they would continue to develop the later versions on x86 if they wheren't planning this all along)
If what Dvorak has predicted is about to come true, I fear the space time continuum will rupture spewing forth a hoard of evil flesh eating time daemons.
Ask a LOLLERSKATES!!11 teenage girl if she wants a custom ringtone composer on a par with Sony ACID or a few more hours on her phone's battery and it's quite obvious which one she would pick.
Free market forces are dictated by those who spend the most money on the service.
Actually no, he's sold the various different areas of the company off bit by bit and they are no longer owned by him or related at all except for branding.
Agreed, I thought the most interesting deveolopment was that they were allowing downloads of feature films (which presumably they've liscenced to show on the TV channels as well.) That's a step forward if anything.
Yeah, I'm just glad it doesn't contain any personal information and that the two things are totally different.

I thought education was for important things which you need, and marketing was to convince you to use products and services?

Must have got back up, it was down earlier. At least this means power is being restored. (Or the ISP brought in an UPS)

But since when was Israel a mainland European country ;)
For those in the US, it's actually a large elaborate practical joke to make make people look silly.
If you accidentally clicked the "Apple" link on the left sidebar, use the "back" button in your browser to repair the problem.
Just thought I'd point out, he was being ironic ;)

of Virgin Atlantic/Cola/Radio/Records/Megastores/Trains/What ever has already started a company called "Virgin Galactic."

TiVo I believe you can only record shows that were on and watch them later, or am I missing something?
