I encode with VBR 128-256 Kbits, this gives great quality, and my Neuros only skips on a very few rare occasions. You should also try different firmwares..it may help.
It's good to see some company finally step up to the plate and publicly admits that free/open source software provides independence and freedom. IBM, Novell, HP always put out the "cheaper" argument which is seen as "less value".
I only hope this percentage has an actual meaning... On the plus side, it will be a pleasure to download those CD's that have "rip" ""protection" in ogg. I proudly buy my music, but I cannot stand _any_ DRM, I rip all my CD's in ogg, and get them on my neuros music player. Great quality, smaller file size, I love it.
Well, I have seen a lot of bad reactions from an audience at one of his speeches when he started arguing with Lawrence Lessig, people do not seem to be very keen of Richard, he has a somewhat strong personality, which anybody in his position would have. When he disagrees about something, you _will_ know about it before even finishing your sentence.
I think that current copyright law would not permit just switching over the liscence without contacting every contributor, since that would probably be a violation. But then again, im not a lawyer:)
Sorry for sounding pedantic, but he announced this at the FSF associate members meeting March 26th. I'm surprised nobody came out with this info earlier.
My DVD burning buying descision will turn out to be simpler. I have hesitated in the past because of the price and the 15 current "standards". Cheers to Sony and Toshiba !
I totally agree with you, their target market does not have the "need" or the "means" for computers. I do not see how a gadget like this could be a worthy investment for them.
BURN ALL E-BOOKS, now that I got your attention, please remember that e-books are meant to take away the traditional freedoms that you have with a paper book (lend, photocopy, read twice, take out at your local library). Use with caution.
...users are once again the victims of a braindead patent system. Personal information and software are too things that get very ugly real quick when patents get in the way.
It seems they have decided to value convenience(political that is) over freedom of it's citizens. People often forget copyright was created to benefit the public and not for companies to get the maximum possible profit from a single work.
Most big applications are multi-threaded, which is the same as "multi-cpu aware". Parralelism is the way of the future, as we wont be seeing big GHz increases in the near future.
They are starting to sound desperate, targeting the 16- audience. I have not seen the kind of action you would expect on the gamecube. The PS2 lives on...
You simply have to show potential employers that you have what they want. Show them that you are competent with recent technologies. "Wrong people" are wrong because they have stayed in a company in which they were maintaining legacy systems instead of pushing forward for new tech. Good luck btw...

Im sure there is some evil plan behind this.

For my mythtvTV computer, im using a K6-2 500 Mhz with a PVR-350, I can hear the hard drives once in a while but otherwise it is dead quiet.

Work during day, Geek during evenings, Sleep at night, it's what I do.
...I now know that my odds of getting a geekgirlfriend(.com) are pretty low.

I agree, potential potential is no potential.
Some scientists actually proved that laptops and hotubs can actually reduce fertility for up to one month, no joke here.

The admin can disable sftp because it uses a protocol extension. Scp OTOH uses no protocol extension and can be used with any ssh server.
