Not sure if troll. I don't disagree with many of your preferences, but there are options out there. Use MATE (a fork of GNOME 2) and Chrome/Chromium. Use Fedora, which seems to have SystemD figured out and working well.
Wait, Edge? You are a troll.
Please learn the terminology if you want to have intelligent conversations about a topic. Even if you are pro gun control, learn the terms. Calling a magazine a "clip" is like calling an entire computer a "CPU": its wrong and no one knowledgeable in the field would say it.
I already use Ubuntu 100% on my machines at home and work, apart from when I need to remote desktop into Windows servers
Assuming you just need standard Windows remote desktop (RDP), rdesktop (sudo apt-get install rdesktop) will probably do everything you need.
Perhaps you are using some exotic remoting protocol.
He mentioned it first in a radio series, which is excellent. If you've read the book(s) and avoided the radio series, you are doing yourself a real disservice.
I made the mistake of listening to the radio version first, and it ruined the books for me (so much of the humor from the radio series didn't translate to book form).
I am curious, what do people object to regarding the Awesome Bar? I find it saves me a lot of time Googling for a website I've been to before (or maintaining a huge bookmark list of every site I might want to return to).
Is it too slow on some hardware? It's always been fast (enough) for me on semi-modern hardware.
An early termination fee makes sense when they give you a free (or reduced cost phone). You have the phone, they get something like the money they would have made back over the life of the contract.
However, when I leave, they get to keep their new infrastructure. And the resources I was using are freed for someone else to use.
The early termination only makes sense in the context of repayment for a free/reduced price phone.

Don't feed the trolls.

Actually, yes, I think it just might be. Imagine the mountains of coal that would have been burned instead over the past 76 years.
This "democratic ideal" might be true in a world without marketing and advertising. Marketing and advertising have no place in a true meritocracy.

I love you. I am really impressed, the colors convey the syntax highlight, but are all easy on the eyes. Thanks!
