I too have that fear. The real basis for it is because Apple is the new Microsoft. Better design sense, but more greedy and evil.

The problem is that if they start getting a significant share of the browser market again, they're almost guaranteed to start their old extend/extinguish trick. Microsoft needs to stay an 'also ran' in the browser market until they learn to play with others.

I was under the impression that the fix did actually speed it up, but at the cost of battery life. You could have got effectively the same performance enhancement by changing the process scheduler to 'performance' rather than 'on demand'. As someone with an older phone running Cyanogen, I was hoping this fixed helped. My performance problems tend to be more memory related though as the older phones are quite short on RAM.

.. and that's one of the number one productivity (and joy) killers out there for me; poorly thought out, or unnecessary process. I think 'process' is like salt. It's better to have none than too much. The big problem with most places is that process is only ever added ... never taken away. It needs to be reviewed regularly to make sure the benefit is worth the cost.

I like these). They actually have a higher end one on clearance (being replaced with something with a ridiculous name). The ones on clearance include both foam and silicone tips, but as I mentioned, the foam ones mold nicely. I'd recommend the clearance ones if you can still get them, but I haven't tried the ones that replace them. I already picked up a supply of them when the price dropped frop $40 to $10.

I find that any of the 'marshmallow' type buds already do this in a few minutes. Pull the earlobe down and forward a bit and poke the earbud in. In a matter if minutes it's softened up a bit and sealed quite nicely. I can wear them all day. The big advantage with the in-ear is that they block ambiant noise, so you can keep the volume quite low.

Actually, I don't believe they did. The FTC were looking into whether they were or not, apparently due to heavy lobbying from Microsoft. I was under the impression that Google voluntarily changed a couple of practices and the probe was dropped.

It's a generalization, but I find Toyotas (mainly Corollas ... surprisingly the Echos tend to be driven faster) are driven more slowly and more cautiously by a fair margin than any other car. I've generally attributed this to people buying Toyotas because they have a reputation for being safe. I think Toyota is the right company to attempt this as if the price is in the right ballpark, these people will buy it. This is good, as these people *need* it. At a certain point, overly 'cautious' driving causes a lot of traffic problems and stirs up the aggressive drivers out there increasing accidents. As I said, a generalization, but a fairly reliable one.
