I did this recently. After avoiding KDE because it didn't look nice, I tried it again after the Gnome devs "pulled an Apple" and said that we shouldn't be able to theme or add extensions to our desktop. It takes a bit more setup to make it exactly as you like,... but you can make it *exactly* as you like. You also only need to do it once. It'd well worth the minimal effort it requires.
Pretty much everyone i know has a phone with a micro-usb connector, and I have yet to see a failure. This is not a huge sample size, but probably statistically significant. They're actually quite strong, even the very low priced ones. Although , I don't anyone who uses it as a structural element (not does anyone with an iPhone connector). The phone is always supported.
Apparently they do have a ppa for driver updates, which is at least something. If they test, work with hardware vendors, provide supprt, etc, it also costs them. That aside, I'm actually willing to pay a bit to show that what they're doing is appreciated. The way we're heading with Microsoft and Apple, we're going to need a platform taht will let us run any software we want in a few years.
I was going to add that I would pay the extra $50, but after looking at the machine, no. They're calling this a developer's laptop, but it only has 1366x768 resolution for that price?
What it shows is that we want laptops that run Linux. Unfortunately, It sucks that we need to pay to make that statement with this machine. The other option is to call them and rant at them about wanting the cost of the Windows installation back as we're not using it. I've heard that actually works every once in a while as well. Worst case, it costs them money and lets them know that you want their machine but not Microsoft's OS.
Well, they appear to finally be making it easier, and are charging you for the privilege. I would guess they'll also reduce the support duration of versions to force people to upgrade.
Sorry man, the word 'not' was meant to be 'now', as in "it's now illegal". I feel bad after you posted that nice long paragraph (even though it is about the uS laws). I beleve there;'s an exclusion in Canada for phones, btw,
It wasn't "convenience over QC"... it was pretty clearly "greed and arrogance over QC". It was most definitely not convenient to release their own mapping application early.
There were plenty of corporations involved. It's not illegal to rip a DVD to put in on your phone, for example. In general, it's illegal to break electronic locks.
Apple is also successful because they build decent hardware, but moreso, because ecery news and tech site also advertises for them without charge. Because of this, their misbehaviour and general dickishness will also be broadcast more than with otehr companies that don't get the free advertising. It will eventually catch up with them. The sad part is that all they really need to do is stop suing and start competing again. They're not gaining fans with their current behaviour, they're losing them.
It's an assumption, not a fact. It was not proven that she was guilty, nor was it proven that she was innocent. It's just our default assumption... it doesn't mean it's true.
There are keyboards with Cherry switches that are much quieter (Cherry green?). I picked up a cheap mechanical keyboard a few months ago. I loved it right away, and I find it very hard to use the cheap rubber dome keyboards now, although some of the higher end 'X switch' keyboards are okay. It's also made me realize how bad the Mac style keyboards are... not enough feedback, and not enough travel. If one of those were improved they'd be much nicer to use. The one I got has the Cherry black switches, and yeah, they're a bit loud, or rather, the key is loud as it bottoms out. Still worth it though, even if you don't go for a keyboard with the quieter switches.

Same as the 'big boys' ... hookers and blow.

You are not alone, I know people who have not purchased a car because it had an iPod connector but no USB. Some of us rant about open for a reason.
You just gave me an incredible idea. I am naming my first male child "Emax". He probably won't get along that well with his sister "Violet" though.
I disagree ... there's also Apple advertising.
I'm not saying they don't support them long-term now, I'm saying they won't make the same 'mistake' again.
Well, they appear to finally be making it easier, and are charging you for the privilege. I would guess they'll also reduce the support duration of versions to force people to upgrade.
I called mine. I don't think he wants to talk to me anymore.

Activism is generally not considered illegal in civilized countries.

When it comes to what works, the only thing I really trust is double-blind studies.
That is the second worst poem I have ever read.

Duh, sorry, I meant to say 'Not Guilty' is *not* the same as innocent.
I a court of law, 'not guilty' is the the same as innocent. More accurately, she was 'not found guilty', as opposed to 'found not guilty'.
I need a foreign country that is more conservative than the US to move to.
I believe Afghanistan is like that. Iran as well. East Germany was as well. Be careful what you wish for.

The added bonus is that Android tablets are now cheap enough that he can get a usable one for his daughter for under $100.
