Right... is everyone that needs to go somewhere *right now* supposed to a member of the 'trusted passenger' program (whatever the current name is) whenever it exists between all major airports? I can't see the 72 hour working, on many levels.

Er, what? Replays were one of the few to offer phone line connections and network/broadband, your choice. You use *either* to get your guide data. What makes you think you need to connect both? From what I remember (had four Replays back when, before DirecTV and their HD Tivos...), you can't even turn on both at the same time, you choose phone line or broadband.

Yep, somehow I did .4 for the approximation and not .6. Thanks!

But there's the latency issue... better to have the 'satellite' at 24 Km/10Miles than 25,000 miles (as in DirecWay).

  5. What browsers does this work with?! on Google Launches Google Reader at Web 2.0 · · Score: 1

Either it's still /.'d or it doesn't work with Opera (that I can see). The config web page only displays two blank placeholders when I subscribe to two RSS feeds. So, is there a browser compat issue or... ?

  6. Fake hardware like fake convention presention? on 6.8GHz 1TB RAM and 2TB HDD Laptop? · · Score: 1

I wonder if this is intended to be similar to the folks that created the paper using the bafflegab (I forget the actual name) generator and got it admitted to a convention as a presented paper, and were later kicked out when the 'non-scholarly' method was discovered. This could be another attempt to see how far fake hardware can go until it's also found out. (I did like the Jan 2006 CES photos, though... nice touch!)

  7. Re:Relief funds? on Technology In Katrina's Wake · · Score: 2, Informative

Many sites have info on the 'validness' of organizations and how much of what you donate actually is spent on the program you want (such as Hurricane Relief). Easy to decide if the one asking for money is valid and a good choice! See http://www.charitynavigator.org/ for example.
