I can see a huge difference on a 30 inch TV between 480x720 (DVD) and 720x1280. I don't have to be told whether it's in HD, I can actually figure it out on my own just by looking at it.
I've watched old silent black and white movies that were very enjoyable, but I'm still itching for some 1080p.
This seems to be the standard way of fixing things in windows when things start going wrong.
I haven't met many people that reinstall Windows when it starts crapping out. They just ignore it. It amazes me to see people clicking through 200 adware popups a minute on a spyware chocked connection while 50 other peices of malware cause all other kinds of unpredictable behavior. Using most people's computers without cleaning them out somewhat first would drive me insane.
Nothing wrong with that, and I sure wouldn't mind it. Perhaps then there would be less of a push to dumb Firefox down and it could fully be the browser of nerds.
We'll probably see Firefox catching up in 2.0 or 3.0 (I can't remeber which is going to use Gecko 1.9).
Firefox won't be getting Gecko 1.9 until Firefox 3.0, which is set to be released in 2007. Firefox 1.5 uses Gecko 1.8.0 and Firefox 2.0 will use Gecko 1.8.1, which is not allowed to have large changes or changes to already implemented features. Thus, Firefox won't be passing Acid 2 for at least a year. At least that's the way I understand it.
the Dvorak keyboard offers at most only a two to six percent efficiency advantage
All I know is that I don't get pain in my hands when I type anymore. I can now go for hours without even thinking about my hands hurting, which was completely unthinkable before. I've heard lots of people praise the Dvorak keyboard for relieving their hand/wrist/arm/shoulder pain.
If anyone has pain from typing, giving the Dvorak keyboard layout is certainly worth a shot.
Have you ever tried to view an MNG or JNG image in Firefox?
From what I understand, the removal of libmng (from release builds) didn't have anything to do with the move from Mozilla Suite to Firefox. I certainly could be wrong though.
I can totally see a videogame involving shooting popups with lazers or something. It seems so obvious that I feel like somebody should have done it already.
Who cares? It never should have gotten to be an OS issue anyway. The application shouldn't have ever let something like this slip by. Firefox on Windows XP causes no problem at all while Internet Explorer poops out like a corn-filled turd.
Everybody knows that. People only come to Slashdot because of the disscussion. I visit both Digg and Slashdot and I will continue to do so as long as Digg's commenting system is so crummy.
Look on the bright side. At least you didn't eronously go into marketing.
With twice the resolution of 1080i
You mean 1080p? LOL
get better movies
Get better glasses.

with HDMI inputs
Even if HD DVD was so open and friendly, you'd still get smacked with DRM when you use HDMI. Not to mention the licensing fee for the DRM.

Paying for DRM, that sure sounds like fun to me.

And here I am waiting like a fool for a good cheap HVD drive when I can just stick in in the DVD drive right next to me.
I was wondering the same. Even the almighty Google turns up nothing! Well, except for this very article of course. Crazy Google.
It shouldn't be too long before XmlHttpRequestMonitor.com is registered to become one of those sites with nothing but ads and paid links.
Opera: The Browser For Dummies?
Nothing wrong with that, and I sure wouldn't mind it. Perhaps then there would be less of a push to dumb Firefox down and it could fully be the browser of nerds.
Can the lists be updated automatically like the Adblock Filterset.G Updator extension does?

At least he provided an interesting fact about Shaecspir.
Try hitting the button that says "Preview" next time before you make a post.
QWERTY was not "designed to slow typists down"
Even the article you linked to doesn't deny that. Whether it failed at slowing typists down is arguable, but it was still designed to do just that.

Is there any chance of Gaim ever using wxWidgets or something similar?
In Korea only old people play with acrostic square puzzles.
At least it's not spelled "Kalender". KDE probably has a "Kalendar" though.

:-( *sob*

It's very sad whatever the reason is.

If you're going to expand AGT paranthetically, then what is the point of using AGT at all?
He's trying to teach others what "AGT" means so they will hopefully begin using it as well. ITO? (Isn't That Obvious?)
The reason I don't use Internet Explorer is because of security problems, not because of the lack of tabs. Does Maxthon solve that problem?
Like everything, it's coming. Been waiting paitiently in CSS 3 for quite a while now.
Thats not the fault of the OS.

Who cares if it's used for ads? I'll just be blocking them with Adblock Plus.
