I completely agree. You have to hunt down which link is the correct link to find the specs that they eventually skewed to make an inflammatory point. They are writing articles to fill pages with advertisements based on a headline that is sure to piss off someone.
Democrats want to give the working class a 1% tax cut, cut taxes on businesses by 50%, and let the tax rates for the 1% go back to where they were?!? OMFG no way! It is good that the Republicans are working so hard for "us". [/SNARK]
"After months of hard work and intense deliberations, we have come to the conclusion today that it will not be possible to make any bipartisan agreement available to the public before the committee's deadline," said a joint statement by the co-chairs, Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, and Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.
I would think if bits from a rocket landed on someone, the radioactive nature of the bits would be the least of their worries. However, it does paint a pretty funny picture.
Or you could just be taken for no reason then released for fake reasons and told to pay a fine for something that never really happened.
That has happened to me. Back in the CRT days, I was taking a big ol monitor to a friends club. I had to borrow my mother's car because it wouldn't fit in my MR2. She lived in Kansas and the thing had more rust than metal. So here I am driving a hoopdy looking all white trash with a big ass monitor in the car. Of course I'm driving through Farmers Branch TX which is the land of Barny Fife patrols. Needless to say, that Saturday morning I'm going to jail. No reason. Just you look like white trash that stole a monitor. Monday afternoon, when I finally get to see a judge, he tells me I'm in jail for littering and "how do you plea". I know your going to be all "but you didn't get beat on and live in prison for years and all that bullshit" and your correct. However, my mom's car was $800 to get out of the pound, which IMHO is an act of pure brutality. If you grow'd up in the trailer park and cost your mom $800 bucks you would know the horror I endured.
Why would a linguist of all people have such a romantic attachment to the idea of an unchanging English language?

Libraries are the means to better a society. They have been around before the great library in Alexandria was burnt by Christians. It only stands to reason they evolve so humanity can too. Perhaps we are not destined for Idiocracy after all.
The motivation for this effort is put very well in Artur's blog. He argues that rather than build JavaScript into web browsers they should have a virtual machine so that any language can be used. As well as this advantage, he also points out that with a JVM type approach you get automatic sandboxing and simply sending the JVM to the server provides browser independent persistence.
I think it would have been easier to build a VM into a browser but I doubt it would have gotten this much attention. Still. It is a cool project.
Here's a simple challenge for you: try writing a functional network card driver for Linux over a weekend. Now try the same in FreeBSD.
I have to say your right on the money with that statement. One of the things that made Linux so attractive was Linus et el put a lot of effort in allowing people to add driver support for hardware. It stands to reason making an OS for machines people slap together themselves you need to be able to quickly add support for a multitude of hardware. This alone is a huge reason for the success of Linux. The BSD developers on the other hand, had a clear idea of what hardware they wanted to support -- big ass servers -- so the means to support "oh look a new graphics card" type new hardware was low priority and never built in.
I don't know if I would go so far as to say elitist. Minux was organized with a long term plan that was heavily organized the way academics do things. ie. If someone else has an idea not directly related to my work it is not my concern. Linus had an idea, posted it, and worked with people that were interested in the project. It was MUCH more relaxed and approachable. Minux was visible. People watching out for competition targeted it. Linux was deemed a toy by everyone not able to see its potential and ignored.
This is an interesting thread and makes the conspiracy theorist in me wonder if drive failure isn't built in. I bought 6 1.5T Seagate drives for my multimedia box. I replaced them with 3T drives 1 year ago and moved each out to different machines, less 3 that I sold to a friend. Since then my 3 have died, all this month, with the dreaded "clickety click" sound from hell. ie. p00f gone no way to recover data won't spin up fux0rd. My friend called me and said he was getting sector error warnings booting off one that I had sold him. He tried running a quick dd to move all the data to a different drive but it failed, no more spin for you 10 minutes of dmesg I/O error fail, in the middle of getting all the data moved. Of course it all could be related to the fact the drives run hotter than an old GPU trying to run Skyrim with everything maxed out. I guess I'll know when the other 2 drives go tits up that they have a 3 year life span. Anyway, thanks for the info on the SSD's. I was thinking "solid state" == will last for ever. Now I know better.
I wouldn't mind seeing Firefly, Dark Angle, and Terminator - The Sara Connor Chronicles get revived. I'm not sure why Breaking In disappeared. It looked like it had potential.
Use info from Cherry Pi for hardware, snag an OS from the open source world, then attach a bullshit proprietary interface "FXI’s patent protected Any Screen Virtualization Protocol"? Interesting.

Obama wants to cut the payroll tax by another percentage point for workers, at a total cost of $179 billion, and cut the employer share of the tax in half as well for most companies, which carries a $69 billion price tag.

But how would you tow a boat? I mean really. They find water then build a truck that can't pull a boat?!? :P

In the U.S a 1.5 year prison sentence is just part of a speedy trial.

I worked as a paralegal while in college. I'll have you know they get paid minimum wage + tips.
Now the kids will see how bad you get f***d when you go to the doctor and will avoid getting proper medical care!

Assuming it will point out the closest gun store on the way to the patent attorney's office.
Shouldn't it be 3d? That way they can draw lines so people living on top floors can vote and the people on the ground floor can eat cake.

Thanks!

In addition to ewanm89's informative answer, it is a building block towards voice commands.
Does anyone have a list of the tards that have come out in favor of the bill so far?
