Swing your arms from side to side *GASP*, come on it's time to go do the Mario!

  2. Google Calendar on Google Releasing an Office Suite · · Score: 0

I knew they'd come out with this sooner or later, but I didn't see it coming so soon I guess. For the last couple of months I've been working on my own calendar program with a goal in mind of having it widely used, and I've been praying that Google would overlook the idea of an online calendar. As a small time guy with an idea and decent knowledge of programming, should I be worried and slow down on my development, or press on and put the same amount of effort and resources into it that I have been? It's likely that this would take me a couple years to have it worthy of showing the public, but do you think someone like me has a shot at competing against the big G? -Evan

  3. Re:Offtopic: Lunenburg on Teen Creates Device to Track Speeding · · Score: 0

Seeing how this particular news site is local to Massachusettes I can't say I agree with you. Also, the article doesn't state anything about Nova Scotia, but talks about him going to Washington D.C. to collect money from some sort of contest that he won and mentions the "University of Massachusetts Traffic Safety Research Program".

Besides... young programmers in a backwater Nova Scotia fishing village? Eh? Isn't that town still on dial-up?

  4. A Neccessary Evil on War Declared on Caps Lock Key · · Score: 0

Even though I agree that messages typed in caps are quite annoying, I've found a lot of instututions have made it neccessary to have caps lock on while performing certain tasks.
As an example, bar code scanning. The codes are usually case-sensitive and scanning one in the opposite case may not yield any results in the inventory unless caps-lock is on. Also, some people might just do general record keeping and whatnot in caps. I've also found that some people get seriously irritated when I turn their caps-lock off because their network password is in caps and they're used to typing it with the lock on.

I guess it's just become a thing-to-do in the realm of office work, and a faux paux in the realm of online communication.

  5. Re:Canon ink? on Testing Cheaper Printer Ink · · Score: 0

I put Staples Brand ink into my Canon Photo Printer once and the pictures came out more greenish than anything. I can't recommend any cheaper alternative if you want to print decent quality photos, I sure as hell won't be using any from now on.

  6. Demand and such on WineConf 2005 Sets Deadline for Wine 0.9 · · Score: 0, Flamebait

All the money being put into wine should be spent on giving linux the push it needs to entice corporations to look past their assholes when it comes to viewing market demand.
Just because there are significantly less Linux users than Windows and Mac users does not mean that there isn't a viable demand for a native port. Also at that, it would give people looking at Linux as a primary OS the final reason to make the switch.
I guess I'm still bitter about Disney funding Wine to get Photoshop to run.
