Actually NO, That "most successful company to ever exist" spends $600 million developing kinect (developing means running around buying out companies like 3DV Systems) and writing skeletal reconstruction code (that has a 0.5second LAG, just try playing Adventures and then compare lag to Fitness that doesnt use skeletal code and doesnt lag at all) ... and in the end used PrimeSense Reference Design because what they developed in house DIDNT WORK.

Seriously, this is the first thing I thought when I read aboutthe Kinect. Here is a box, wired to the internet, with a hundred little beams that can not only tell what you're doing, what the room looks like to absurd levels of detail. Talk about 1984-style, in-soviet-russia type monitoring.

Forget the advertisers, with enough of these things deployed the feds won't need those vans parked outside your house, they'll grab the data in real-time from either the ISP or Mircrosoft.

Just like the movie Antitrust, but much worse.

And a lot of that profit goes to the over $200 million they spent to license and develop the technology. The plans didn't appear out of thin air.

Except they didnt develop "the technology" (structured light), they developed 40something points skeletal tracking algorithm that makes games like Adventures LAG 0.5 second on XBOX. They demoed this tracking even before talks with Primesense.
They did buy our 3DV Systems that used Tof (tof camera had 0.5 second delay to begin from watching 3DV demos). They were hoping it would work, but it didnt so they ended up using third party Primesense.

From that experience what Agile means for me is TOTAL lack of Q&A.
