FTA: The chips are so small that packaging them together in a module is tricky and the focus of the development effort is currently in this area.
Stikes me they'd be better off trying to get this technology on the same die as the CPU/GPU/WhateverPU. Be an interesting fabrication problem but should be more efficient that adding to the component count, double-stacking "Chips" and other such shenanigans...
FTA: Our data recovery specialists have been able to provide a partial file list of the email data, but it has since become clear that we will not be able to recover the directory structure. Without the directory structure we cannot recover any meaningful data, due to complexity of associating the data with the relevant customer accounts.
If they've got the e-mails why not just re-queue it? Surely the "To" field is a bit of a give-away.
Granted, Sarge using a 2.4 kernel as default for the installer wasn't sharp. You *can* boot with a 2.6 kernel very easily by entering "linux26" at the boot screen instead of just hitting enter. That get's you up and running on the majority of "Modern" stuff.
I'm guessing there's a fair ammount of data here (?How much?) - if you're worried about a drive dying whilst in storage, archive it to 3 Disks in a RAID 5 (Just one choice of many).
You could do a periodic spin-up of a volume and check they're still alive, say one volume a week?
The sound track is probably easier to check and we're *much* more sensitive to changes made there, leaving very little wiggle room for deception.

Guess they'd call that the "America Syndrome"
I hop so...

Hmmm. I wonder what OS *he* runs.....
Oddly enough, I do! That's why all my music is ripped and streamed - CDs in garage in case of HDD fail.
Arguably, a digital copy isn't going to degrade with use like an LP.
Nevermind, someone'll dupe it in the next day or so anyway...
