    Jeepers! I get to pay top dollar now for an operating system that consistently breaks, consistently does NOT have any usable applications built-in, has a SINGLE desktop, NO security, and an eternal stream of patches and bandages! Gosh, it's got pretty graphics, though, doesn't it?

    I've repented my wrong-doin ways 'n' picked me up a 1971 Chevy shortbed with a 400 in 'er. Took 'er to the petrol station, filled 'er up. Had to mortgage the house - musta been useless. Kids'll never be able to attend private school or eat, for that matter, but hey, I'm a V8 man now... :)

    Wow - I'm sold. I'll give up my 17 years of using alternative operating systems (UNIX/Solaris/HP-UX/GNU-Linux/OS2/BeOS/MacOS) and come worship at Steve Ballmer's pedicured feet, occasionally allowing him to beat me with a folding chair - AND give him $320AUD per copy of his OS. Yes! I have been enlightened!

    ...where NASA blows it's financing. On Microsoft "can't bother to fix it" software. How trite. Instead of using free software, free OS's - developed for the scientifically minded, they're using brainless, costly, ineffective software products coupled with brainless, costly, ineffective operating systems. WAY TO GO NASA! Now it's clear why other "space related" groups are moving ahead in the game. Now the old joke makes sense, in a big way. "In the 60's, the US government and NASA spent millions of dollars to research and develop an ink pen that would function in a weightless environment. Meanwhile, the Russians used a pencil."

    Large corporates want to have IT service, dependability, SLA's on-time, etc etc etc, however, they don't want to pay for proper staffing, consistently hire inexperienced cheaper labour, and whinge about "not having an MCSE"! Right. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If they don't want to pay for proper staffing, don't want to pay for proper training, don't want to pay for (insert whatever here), then they're not going to get what they want. Having worked in many HUGE corporate structures, I can very easily see that there are MANY employees that are employed that really don't need to be there - and have very little positive function - why not get rid of the chaff in the management structures and make room for those that you really need (IT administration and staff)? IF your data and applications are that important, PAY to protect that asset - instead of trying to always "go the cheap" on the IT.

    I'm finding this all in the vein of the US "forcing" everyone to do everything the way they do it, and that's that. Our way or the highway. A means by which to control content, media, privacy and the likes, and a means by which to invade someone's privacy based on copyright and patent laws. The final chokehold on creative collective thinking.

    It's just too bad that so much of the Indigenous Australian's stories are "turned aside" by Western culture; they've been here AT LEAST 75,000 years (and most likely far longer than that) and there is so much within the framework of the Dreamtime stories and legends that bespeak heaps of extremely interesting occurrences - cosmic, geological and human. There's much more to be learned from studying what is left of their culture - and it's extremely important to preserve what we have now - for future generations. The Indigenous culture here is dying off at an alarming rate, and little care is aimed at this travesty.

    Yes, Bono, I'm sure you're more than happy to make statements about the media industry grubbing more profits than they've already grubbed from us - God forbid that the rich shouldn't get richer - all from a mediocre artist/musician that would have not gotten far without a huge record company's promotion in the first place - and Mr. Bono, as you so comfortably sit up there in "Richland" with the rest of the well fed, well taken-care-of, well paid pigs, we, the underdogs, the underpaid, the underfed - the BASE OF ALL ECONOMY - will plodge along and listen to your philanthropic banterings about the "less well off" and the "starving people". Too bad you can't just bloody retire and take what you've already raped - along with the RIAA and their ilk - and just sit back and live quietly without your pigish rants and demands for more money, more profits. Make what you make, make it honestly, and don't whinge. Why didn't anyone jump on this bandwagon back in the 60's and the 70's when folks were already taping music from the radio? Anyways, Mr. Bono, if you're such a good soul, cut your living expenses to $40AUD a year, give the rest to the starving, the waterless, the sick and the poor, and then I'll admire you. Better yet, give it all away, and start again from scratch...shouldn't be that hard if you're a really good musician...

    This is basically just a governmental response to keep the public pacified into thinking that THE GOVERNMENT is thinking about their safety and wellbeing online. Unfortunately, the case is more along the lines of "they don't really give a stuff and aren't really going to do much of anything because they're still not up-to-snuff about the entire sphere of technology and it's implications on society et al." IF the Australian government REALLY wanted to make a show for protection of the Australian public, they'd enforce FAIR PRICING for internet access - starting with Telstra. THAT would have more TRUE impact than this type of tripe/BS/PR/Marketing.

    Micro$soft, a company worth in excess of $55 billion dollars US, can't possibly be expected to fix something as complex as Micro$oft Windows (insert your version here). C'mon! They've got to eat, party, buy politicians and Texan football team owners...you really think that they'd spend MONEY on fixing something "once and for all"? We must be kind to them, and expect that A COMPANY THAT IS WORTH IN EXCESS OF $55 BILLION DOLLARS US can't afford such a thing as shelling out hard earned (stolen/conned/extorted) money to teams of offshored software engineers to fix such MYSTERIOUS things! Bribery and paying out for lobbyists and greasing palms for copyrights and patents is IMPORTANT ya know...so give them a break! Maybe, MAYBE, someone should just write them a nice little note explaining how they can fix this issue, or write the resolution out for them (hardcopy or in software format) so that they don't have to worry so much and fret so much! Ya know, give them a helping hand, eh? (Sorry, my meds ain't kicked in yet).

If you DO NOT have a "White Button", please contact me for details on how to pre-order your own, personalised and customisable "White Button". I've also applied for a patent and copyright on "White Button", as per M$ standards - so getting a "White Button" from anyone other than myself will result in patent infringement and copyright violation. Even mentioning "White Button" outside of MY context is grounds for legal action. How many "White Buttons" would you care to order today? (Oh yeah, and next week, "White Button v.1.1" will be out and you can upgrade from "White Button v.1" for a small licensing fee of $19.95 AUD)
