"Many feel that there seems to be some kind of back-patting going on between **Beatles-Beatles** and ScuttleMonkey"

cmdrTaco explained this yesterday by the fact the ScuttleMonkey works the night shift which is the timeframe BB submited most all his articles.

This also explains why the last 6 stories have been posted by SM.

  2. what does this even mean? on Scientists Figure Out How Bees Fly · · Score: 0

    From TFA:

"They work like racing cars," Altshuler said. "Racing cars can reach higher revolutions per minute but enable the driver to go faster in higher gear. But like honeybees, they are inefficient."

I have a few issues with this statement:

    1) Why does he say 'but enable...', as if the driver is going faster in spite of higher RPM,
    2) Of course you can go faster in higher gears,
    3) Racing engines are extremely efficient in terms of power per displacement and power per fuel consumption,

    4) and finally:
    Just earlier he says

The bees made up for the extra work by stretching out their wing stroke amplitude but did not adjust wingbeat frequency.

then likens their mechanism to changing engine RPM (frequency).

I think your statement itself is sufficient proof:

    if n = p1 x p2, where p1 and p2 are prime, (i.e. have no other factors) then it
follows that n has no other factors.

  4. Re:Products of primes on New Possible Record Prime Number Found · · Score: 0

This is not true in general since you can easily construct a number n where

    n = p1 x p2 x s

where p1, p2 are prime and s is not (and the factors of s are != p1 or p2)

I seem to recall a couple of Linux distros that DO install and run
a web browser the first time you log in. Definately Knoppix does,
(although it's Konquerer) and I think Ubuntu did as well.

I don't consider this a problem... just pointing it out.
