One would think that it would be a poor reflection on the boardmembers. Sereriously, i'm supporting these guys w/ everything I can -- it was a ballsy move. Perhaps replacing the reviewers themselves w/ programs will be the next step for these guys.
I agree, but you have to admit that h2g2 is a lot more fun. honestly, w/ all the buzz that the movie's getting -- i wouldn't be surprised if we saw a spike in membership/registered users w/in the next few weeks.
is anyone actually registered w/ them??
As mentioned upthread several times, there are a number of credible theories out there as to how we migrated from Africa to the four corners of the world. This study will, hopefully, provide conclusive evidence to prove a few of them. I'm all for it -- though I don't know how i feel about BUYING a kit to have someone put my info into their DNA database. That you can keep.
Though I know he's not the most popular author, I would recommend that anyone who's interested in this read Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs and Steel. I don't agree with everything that he says, but he makes an interesting case for migration of tribes through the Bering Strait.
Does a law have to be based on "physical phenomenon". Moore's theories/laws/whatever governed innovation in the IT industry for well over 30 years. That ought to be good enough for anyone. There are obvious differences b/w the IT industry and natural sciences -- look at the rate in which IT has grown and evolved vs. that of traditional sciences.
This is an interesting article though -- the inventor, scorning his own theory. I wonder what will come to replace it.
Really? What issue are you encountering?? I updated mine several weeks ago with no problem.
Since I've been trying to phase Microsoft out of my life as much as possible, I have a hard time keeping up w/ all of their updates, patches, etc. At least they're free -- I refuse to buy an Apple because of the issues that they've had with their updates.
Bay's done some bad stuff, but he's done some okay stuff.
What ever happened to getting Robert Zemeckis to direct this?? I was sort of hoping for that.
I think that this is a great strategy. I mean, who cares if it goes along EXACTLY with the source material -- that's why it was written in the first place.
This reviewer seems like he's just a little jaded.
I'm going opening day regardless.
take that, angry review guy!
I'm going to have to agree. While the Simpsons is classic TV, I got bored of it like seven years ago.
The looming question is -- when the hell are they ever going to take it off of TV??
NEEEVER...
Who cares?? Its a small price to pay for science. If geologists want to figure out exactly WHAT'S a the earth's core, let them. I could careless.
In either case, an interesting discussion upthread about "artificial" volcanos. It was like my college earth sciences course all over again.

That was one of the worst, yet funniest puns I've read on Slashdot, ever.

A ha ha ha. The best part is how half-hearted BBC "apologies" tend to be. great job, guys.
