By appealing to the prejudices and emotions of the judges, one can garner favorable treatment for one's side of the argument and cause a factually false position to be ruled true.
For example... The Supreme Court decides in 1893 that tomatoes are vegetables and in 2000 that GW Bush is the President.:-)
Actually, I have Cox (south-eastern Virginia) and subscribe to 4mb down, 512 up and routinely get almost that -- according to DSL Reports speed tests. I pay $49.00/month. So far I have absolutely no complaints with the service (or DNS, though I am not running any servers).
Although your mileage may vary, Broadband subscribers are generally not required to get cable TV to receive network services. For example, Cox cable offers them separately, though provides a $10.00 discount for Broadband customers w/cable TV.
Though DSL is generally cheaper, cable broadband generally tends to offer higher speeds. A speed vs. price comparison may show DSL and cable to be similar...
Although people seem to interchange DSL and cable/broadband with their Phone Co. and Cable Co., perhaps they should be more clear. The former are technologies, the latter vendors delivering those technologies.
Just because your Telco/Cabco provides better/worse DSL/Broadband, doesn't make the experience universal for the technology, just the vendor.
In this case, it's your cable company's policies that's blocking your ports -- which has nothing to do with either the DSL or Broadband technologies.
I don't use IM for the same reason I don't carry a cell phone. I don't want people to think they can contact me whenever they want. I can think of few things that are that important to be notified instantly/constantly. Send e-mail or leave a voice mail and I'll get back to you when I'm ready.
I believe that most of the high-end graphics software (like from Adobe Photoshop) already do this. The software is written to refuse scanning and/or printing images of money.
Um, dude. Perhaps you should learn how the three branches of the government work before espousing uninformed opinions. Case in point: The Congress passes bills into law, not the Supreme Court. If you don't like the Flag Burning Amendment, blame Congress. They're attempting to pass this legislation *because* the Court protected flag burning as a form of free expression. (See high-school government 101.)
Ya, or we could stop blaming SUVs for all our problems and realize that Minivans and Trucks get the same mileage (or worse) and are just as much a hazard to others in accidents...
BTW, my wife's 2002 CRV-V EX gets 28mpg on the highway and is quadruple 5-star safety rated.
I generally choose to see "bigger" movies, like action and adventure, in the theater when the large screen and surround sound will enhance the experience. I wait to see "smaller" movies at home when the screen size and sound won't really matter as much.
There have been many great movies I have waited to see on DVD, that I wouldn't have paid to see in the theater.
I wish the movie industry would "get this" and not judge a movie's success solely by the opening weekend's box-office returns.

For example, if you wanted to look up a factoid while you were writing a document, you might search for it without ever leaving Word.
You know, M$ just doesn't get it. I don't want my word-processor to search the web; I want it just to do word processing. (Besides, I usually can't wait to leave Word.)
Searching is an intellectual task, I don't want to leave the thinking up to Microsoft.
Yes you can unbundle FIOS and POTS phone service, but you have to specifically request it. In fact, you'll HAVE to do this if you want to use another phone carrier over Verizon's lines. The the new FIOS hookup is exempt from the federal law requiring access to other phone carriers.
BTW, the FIOS battery backup is located at the customer's site and doesn't last but 8 (or so) hours -- bye, bye 911 service after that. And... the customer is responsible for battery replacement.

Ya, I got your data right here!

Is nano-technology in your pants, or aren't you happy to see me?

I quick search for "linux" indeed confirms the ordering assertion made for this example for the search engines.
But what is more interesting is that Google found about 299 million hits, where as MSN found over 336 million hits. I say, Whaaaa....??
