    What should we do, boot out the flood of people who come in from our border with a third world country? Generally your ilk condemn such measures (and I actually do as well, no way we're kicking out millions of illegals, it's impossible). Go back in time and tell our forefathers that slavery was a moral abomination that would create an institutionally poor segment of the population? Pesky physics precludes that.

  4. I don't know if you knew this, but our forefathers thought slavery was a grand idea. This created one institutionally poor class of people who make up a fairly sizeable chunk of our population. Second, we have a porous border with a third world country.

    Higher percentage of poor people in dense areas per 100k people means a higher number of crimes per 100k people. We also have an odd entitlement culture which leads people to think they "deserve" more.

    Can you find anywhere in your contract the bandwidth that AT&T guaranteed you? Physics itself literally precludes unlimited (infinite) bandwidth, so surely you can point to the clause in your contract that says AT&T will guarantee you 4G speeds at all times?

    Huh? T-Mobile is very clear, at least with my plan. $30 gets unlimited texts/voice, and unlimited data where the first 5G of data is at 3G speeds, and anything beyond 5G is subject to throttling.

    I'm unaware of anything in AT&T's advertising materials that indicates the speed at which your mobile device will download data.

    AT&T just needs to clearly indicate that you get X gigs of data at 4G or 3G speeds, then anything after that is subject to lower speeds.

    You don't have a "right" to unlimited data, sorry. The only issue I see is AT&T hasn't been clear with how it works.

    Of course torture works. It's not useful to get someone to confess to something, but it's useful to get _verifiable information_.

    It works, it's stupid to say it doesn't. It's not always the most efficient means and it's certainly evil in most circumstances, but people will part with information under sufficient torture.

    I don't think anybody believes we're good enough for 8000x4000, people are talking about 1080p when they say "good enough" for consoles. Seems we're pretty close even with current gen consoles, and if they can quadruple GPU power or more in the next gen consoles it should be fine for years until those higher resolution displays are actually commonplace.

    Totally. I think we all know that homegrown solutions are 100% reliable, right? If you outsource it you could get stuck with some number of nines, and nines are stupid. 100% uptime is where it's at.

    Now, on a related matter these "hard drive" thingies don't fail, do they? I was thinking of maybe putting them in what some guy called a "RAID 0" configuration so the web server for my business is faster.
