Actually, alot of the professionals do NOT use headphones. Headphones for a live mix is completely useless as you need to hear what the people are hearing. Professional mixing and mastering engineers pretty much never use headphones either. See any picture of any professional studio and you will see multiple sets of monitors. It's possible some check the mix on phones but they sure don't mix with them. The musicians will use them during recording, and in ear buds during a live show but even then, for live, many still use regular speaker monitors.
The questions as to why one person believes what one believes, while they might be interesting, are in the end often fruitless for any understanding.
However, asking yourself why you believe what you believe, if done with sincerity, i think you will find it's much more rewarding. It's a lot harder to do, and quite a bit more scary to challenge ones beliefs no matter what they may be.
I will agree the it has not been proven the universe is infinite, I do not agree that there is no basis in religions that the universe is part of God. You see it in many places and its not to large to leap that a creator God created the universe from itself. some examplse are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VishnuThe Hindu God Vishnu which wikipedia describes ad "as the All-Pervading essence of all beings, the master of and beyond the past, present and future, the creator and destroyer of all existences, one who supports, sustains and governs the Universe and originates and develops all elements within."
The Christian God is described as the Alpha and Omega. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_and_OmegaWikipedia quotes Clement of Alexandria saying "the Alpha and the Omega of Whom alone the end becomes beginning, and ends again at the original beginning without any break"
The Wicca religion Goddess is said to contain and conceive all
Perhaps I should have said its is dangerous to anthropomorphize God instead of the infinite.
I would argue hat if God exists then God would be a superset of all the is, and there fore you can not apply human logic to God because humanity would be constrained by the universe which they can experience. It is possible though that God is not a super set and encompasses nothing outside of the universe. I would still argue that is impossible to completely understand the universe. You would need to observer the entire universe from start to the present to truly understand it and obviously that is not possible.
There is a classic atheist argument that asks the question "If there is a God then why are there so many religions? They can not all be right" the best answer to that is the blind men and the elephant. They all touch the elephant in different places and all think its something its not. see here.http://www.noogenesis.com/pineapple/blind_men_elephant.html
To anthropomorphize god would be a similiar mistake. To say God "thinks", "acts", etc constrains the idea of God.
I'm sure my argument has not been the most coherent and many people will nit pick on this or that. It's just my opinion that one does a great disservice to oneself to anthropomorphize God/the infinite/the super-other whatever you want to call it. Especially if its used to justify or refute the existence of such a God.
For argumetns sake let's assume God exists. Let's also assume that he/she/it created the entire universe and so the universe is part of him/her/it. The universe is infinite, so God is infinite. And then God can actually be a super set of the universe and therefore a faster growing infinity. anyway my answer to any question in which people ask God to do or prove or act in any way a human can understand is: It is dangerous to anthropomorphize the infinite.
They dont suggest it because because contrary to popular belief the world does nto revolve around us geeks..
the majority of the people on resnet are not cs. i know i went to school there.. there was something like 300 cs majors and 1500 Engineering majors in a school o 15,000+ undergrads.
you try to manage a bunch of freshman sociology majors who are more interested in going down to DP to get drunk then pretty much anything else. Now try installing linux on those machines. puh-leez.
exactly correct.. and Yield is the best album..but "In Hiding" is better then evolution.. hehe all the people who say Ten is the best( at least most) have never heard of an album after Vitalogy (and not many know of that one)
there is no "fallout" between the band and ticketmaster. the band in fact is forced to use ticketmaster venues just because there are not any arround.. they tried to not use those venues in 1995 and failed. they have since had many succesful tours incluiding there last in 2000 where they sold out 72 venues out of 72..
Very interesting idea..
like not recording with reverb because you can add it in later.
i wonder how it would sound.. you could then pick and choose amps and settings to make it sound how you like. all you are recording then is the guitarists motion, the guitar body, strings and pick up..
you would probably then want a "monitor amp" for the musician to get some feedback from..
thanks man.. this makes this thing look much cooler then i first thought..
Les Paul can still be proud as he is still alive.
The tube with the box is called a talk box but it is not related to the synth really.. they are 2 different entities
As a guitarist my self, I can pretty much agree with you. I , and most of the guitarists i know, are into analog circuit effects an tube powered amps. There is just more warmth.. its not as clean.
however there are quite a few of dsp's that simulate vintage amps.. Line 6's POD and amps, Fender Cyber twin.
while these do sound pretty impressive and do give some extra flexibility, they still don't match a Class A amp.
I could not see any musicina in the near future pluging cat 5 into their guitar.. maybe into a set of mic pres that then went to the mixer to clean the mass of cables up.. or for midi and such.
This reminds me of when the ESA first launched Arian 5. They apparently reused the software from the Arian 4 rockets.
There was a fuel shut off problem i think and it went of course and they were forced to detonate. Cost them a lot of money.. but then again no one was killed by it, thought the reckage was spread out over a bunch of villages i heard
this is true.. you will get a raise in heat.. no matter what power you generate...
solar power generates more heat bercause it traps energy on the earth that would have been reflected..
but its more efficient.. less energy is lost as heat during the generation process. so if you shut dwon all the innefficient coal plants and just used this..
you would have less heat in the system.. because you are adding only the heat from the power not the unused heat from innefficient production
dude..
read David Hume
His argument against this is fairly persuasive.
Your argument is basically an old religious rationalist argument.
the analogy goes like this
A intelligently built house implies an intelligent architect.
Just as an intelligent universe implies and inteligent creator.
so inteligent creation implies inteligent design.
What Hume said was that if this is so then you can drag it on ad infinitum.
so if God is intelligent then God implies and intelligent creator of God. and so on and so on..
I'm not saying God doesnt exist, you'd be pretty damn arrogant to assume you knew that, I'm saying the argument is not valid.
Isometric or Orthogonsl graphics are images with no perspective.
Ex.
if you look at a set of parrallel train tracks it appears that they will meet up eventually way off in the distance, when in fact they do not ever meet.
in contrast if you saw the same thing isometrically the tracks would look parralell always. and never appear to meet.
I don't believe these were done with a computer.
"A series of drawings from an isometric perspective, in the style of a computer game"
that to me says hand drawn.
though i could be wrong.
First its usually pretty interesting to kids playing video games. Second, with GLUT much of the hardwork is done for you(creating a window, double buffering.. etc) Third its actually not hard to do some simple stuff(boxes, spheres, etc) and make simple camera movemens and settings. you could even go into texturing and lighting but that might be more agressive. I would have LOVED to learn a little OpenGL in high school. go here for examples and tutorials: Opengl.org
Use Net BSD if you are going to have a lot of streams . theoreticaly it can do 3000-4000 streams but then again you would need a fat pipe and i dont think you are going to be buying a gigabit ethernet card, about, $1000 US

I think you did a good job.
