Whatever happened to nuclear fusion? Wouldn't the byproduct of a controlled fusion reaction be helium?

And why, exactly, should Java own every library that begins with the letter "j" ? Is Java the only programming language that starts with "J" ? Well, no, there's... well... JavaScript. Now, you could easily argue that JavaScript is a poor name since it has little or nothing to do with Java, but if you say everything that starts with "x" must relate to X-windowing, everything starting with "g" must relate to Gnome, k* must be KDE, w* must be Windows, etc., it seems that we'll run out of meaningful library names before long.
The original article said that there are only three countries still using Imperial; make that at least four. Belize uses very little metric. Speed limits are miles per hour, temperatures are in Fahrenheit, most paper is Letter and Legal, weights are usually pounds and ounces, and lengths are in inches, feet, yards, miles. Areas are in acres.
Being formerly British Honduras, we even call our fourth-of-a-dollar coin a shilling.
I happen to be a co-author of Addictionary: A Primer of Recovery Terms and Concepts from Abstinence to Withdrawal, and we did not include Internet Addiction only because it was published shortly before the Web became popular.
The best way I have found to explain addiction is as a regulation problem. A "normal" drinker might have too much to drink at a party, and then, whether they have any consequences or not, decide "I won't do that again for a long time." And they don't.
A "normal" eater has too much to eat at Thanksgiving, feels stuffed and uncomfortable for a while, and then returns to a reasonable diet. A "normal" game player sees that they are spending too much time playing games and moves back to more moderate behavior.
An addict finds it much more difficult to regulate excessive behaviors. If you buy that this is due to some kind of brain chemistry problem, then you will be more likely to call it a disease. Many people have difficulty thinking something could be an addiction unless some drug is ingested or injected, but gambling addiction seems a lot like any other addiction. Gambling, extreme sports, exercising, computer gaming, or other activities can in fact release neurotransmitters just as alcohol or drugs can.
A non-addicted person finds it much easier to regulate and back off (return to other pursuits) while the addict finds it increasingly difficult to turn away from the addictive substance(s) or activities. Medical disorder? Your call.
I'll second that. CodeIgniter http://codeigniter.com/ is less than 6 months old, but done by the ExpressionEngine folks, and is a really good PHP framework. I discovered it while looking for a way to make Rails work;-)
Somehow this makes me think of how I feel every time I see one of those anti-smoking ads created by a tobacco company. It MIGHT do some good, but you absolutely know the tobacco company didn't do it to really try to get people to stop smoking.
This is somewhere in between a feature and a bug;-)
The default installation sets up an Ubuntu vesion of Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP). In that, the IP address of the server (assuming you are only using one network card) really needs to be known, which is why it is asking.
There was some discussion on the list that the next release needs to ask whether you have one network card or two, and allow the Internet card to use DHCP as you might expect.
Remember that Edubuntu is targeted for a classroom, especially in developing countries, where LTSP will be a huge asset. If you do NOT want to use this computer as an LTSP server, you would type "workstation" (without the quotes) at the CD prompt and the DHCP should work fine.
Seldom mentioned in discussions about spam is damage to people who own domains, compounded by over-zealous anti-spam efforts. We own several domains, and have recently had to give up having a "catch-all" email address. If you had a domain like.mydomain.com, it was nice to tell someone they could send email to anything@mydomain.com and it would get there. When we told our hosting provider to drop all the unmatched email addresses in a black hole, our daily spams went from over 500 to about 50.
Even worse is when someone fakes your domain in spams. This is roughly the same as a "joe-job" attack, and now you not only get bounced messages from bad addresses on some spammer's list, but also complaints from anti-spammers who think the email headers have not been forged. I used to report spammers, until it got too hard and there were too many of them, and tracking down the actual spammer is quite a skill.
Since aol put their "report this as spam" button right next to something else on the browser toolbar, you can be totally innocent and get threats from your provider for spamming. Thanks, AOL. It's giving mailing list providers fits, too.
Yeah, ask ME if I tolerate spam more than I used to. The frustration is feeling so powerless to do anything about it.
And everyone knows the silver linings can interfere with radio navigation.
Awwwwwwwwwwww :-)

That site compares all CMS, not just open source. It isn't even very easy to tell which ones are FOSS systems.
