Has microsoft assised with the development of this "tool"? Parhaps it will simply delete my illegal copy of XP, you know, just to be sure they got everything. Does it also check my drawers for pot?
It's socialism, actually, and yes it does work as long as someone with deep pockets pays for it. Google gives nothing away for free, between the ads they cram down your throat and the consumer information they collect, the money never stops streaming in.
Iceland already has this mythical Hydrogen economy in place, their free and abundant thermal energy allows them to use the most inefficient process there is to extract hydrogen from water and still they come out ahead. Don't be surprised if OPEC ends up buying the country just before the supply of oil runs out.
If you have an air card and are by some miracle in range of a cell tower, why would you plug it into a $1000 box requiring another $100 battery instead of just directy into your laptop?
This seems to be the perpetual answer to a question no one asked. There is not a critical mass of people out there that want or need wireless everywhere access, except maybe in Japan. Those that do need it, have it, it's called a cell phone. If government wants to piss money away, give even more of it to the phone companies and tell them to drop their prices on data Tx/Rx. Here the cost is completely rediculus. 5 cents per kb. Yes that's right, loading one jpg off one web page will cost you $5.00. And since they promise broadband speeds, that translates to about $1500 an hour if you were to use it like your home cable connection. These inflated prices are the only reason Wifi access is even being considered as a business proposition.
I was thinking more along the lines of why are people going to want to buy Macs with Intel CPUs that are already obsolete by the time their pretty boxes hit stores.

Those of you who watch Fifth Gear probably saw this in action. Even though Roger Moore was driving it, it's still cool. I hope this new one is going to be a little cheaper and not another million dollar "also ran".
Electric motors are already producing their maximum torque at 1 RPM. That's why electric sports cars are capable of blistering 0-60 times even if they usually can't go much faster than 60 once they get there:)
Any car maker still hanging onto the pipe dream of batteries on anything other than a city car is doomed to fail. Hydrogen fuel cells are already gaining an infrastructure in countries like Iceland and Germany and they are the future.
"Because it won't be a product for very long. Other than for hackers and a few "must have everything" kids, I can't see this succeeding as a product. The number of qualifiers/caveats/limitations of this thing as mentioned in the FAQ are ridiculous. Want to play MP3s? You need to purchase special software. Oh, and the sound quality is limited to 128 K/s, so all those songs you ripped at higher quality won't work."
Sounds like an iPod:-)
Have you heard this one? "The people you play against, suck":)
I'm one of the last CRT hold outs in my office I can't stand looking at an LCD more than an hour. I'm just going to wait until I can plug DVI into my head.
My cell phone is capable of this over PCS via IR link to my laptop but I don't dare try it because you are only allowed 5kb of traffic per month and then it's $15/MB after that! If their network is really as fast as they say you could sit there downloading the latest movie trailer and be spending over $1000 an hour! My provider also has a $100 a month "unlimited" plan but it's not unlimited, it's unlimited megabytes but not unlimited minutes connected, I can't remember how much a minute they charge you after you go over but you can bet they make up for any money lost by giving you unlimited MB. I sure hope this mythical Wimax is really on the way.
It might be worth noting, that with no witnesses and the two victims being unconcious, how does anyone even know if had anything to do with light sabers or star wars? Were they wearing jedi robes? Maybe they were just filling light tubes in preperation to burn down their high school.
This story has about as much in depth reporting as first run headline on CNN.COM. Based on the description, I'm picturing light tubes that they took the soldered cap off, filled it with gas and then put the cap back on and somehow "set alight". Now that obviously can't be what went down because A. How would you have a sword battle with tubes 10 times more fragile than an egg and B. Florecent light tubes on this side of the pond aleady glow in the dark, no gasoline required.
So does anyone have any more accurate info?
Actually in this particular case George Lucas handed a copy of the movie to someone out there that let it into the wild. I say George specifically, because that nazi control freak claims to have a hand in everything his companies do. I expect the MPAA will be sending him a sternly worded letter from their lawyers, who are probably also his lawyers, but that won't stop them from charging $140 an hour to compose it:)
You damn downloaders, you straped me in a chair and made me watch a crappy work print with a counter on it, now I can never enjoy the movie I wasn't going to go see from from a franchise I don't give a (@#*! about. Damn you downloaders, damn you all to hell!
I think it has already been established that these organizations have hired guys that are tasked with stopping piracy, if these guys resonably educated inthe real world they know that is impossible. However, to keep their five figure salary, they must make these grand statements and showey efforts every now and then. We get something to bitch about, he/they still gets paid, torrents continue as usual. Everyone wins.
Send our poor to Iraq? With all the taxes, we have plenty of poor to send!

And the number one reason Bittorrenting TV shows is going to become more mainstream than the quarter pounder with cheese is....
Just ask the two USELESS Epson printers in my basement that are packed solid with dried up ink.

Umm, I think you read a different story thant he rest of us? Perhaps "Morgan Freeman Launches Free Movie Bittorrent Site"?
If cinderella had an unlimited advertising budget and blind faith investors to enable her to coast on zero profit for half a decade.
Looks like something the god patrol would love to tag as aiding terrorist activities and shut it down just to look like they are doing something.
Nice to see they extended the offer.

To each party no doubt :) Or and $50 for the sheet of paper.
