Firefox is a young product as long as you don't include Mozilla or SeaMonkey. 5 years of development and we're just now seeing 1.5? Aaaand it isn't even as polished as it ought to be? What a waste of time. If you think FF is ever going to catch up with Opera at this rate, then I've got some KMart stock I'd like to sell you. KMart's a new company on the retail scene and its market share is exploding.
"For Profit" software companies (especially in lieu of Opera's business model) means you get the best and most efficient employees. Something Firefox would never have if it weren't for Fortune 500 companies endorsing it left and right. I'd rather my money go to Opera where they're required to disclose their expenses/profit/et. al. than Firefox. Who knows where that money is going. Also, do you really, honestly, consider IE a "for profit" program. When is the last time you heard someone say, "Damn, that IE, I need it so bad so I guess it's time to drop $200 on Windows."? Sure, it may not be free, but it also isn't "for profit".
I think, maybe, you need to pull that head of yours (and you do sound reasonable enough) out of your ass. Please!
There's a site, http://firefoxopera.blogspot.com/ that has compiled all the important extensions to make Firefox work like Opera. Hell, if you're one of us old school opera users, you can even get an extension for the ad bar on that site. Always the first one I go to when installing FF.
Is anyone else sick of the "Bill of Rights" buzzword? It's so 1990's. Started with the Patient's Bill of Rights, and it's only gotten worse from there.
Can we just go ahead and accept that there's only one Bill of Rights, the first 10 ammendments to the US Constitution. Let's not trivialize the original by overuse of the phrase./rant
But why don't we go ahead and spend the money to see if life can exist on mars...on mars? I'd rather my tax dollars going into science more than most things. What say you?
Will we be seeing Firefox and Opera on more machines out of the box, or is this yet another example of AOL's quest to infect every computer in the world?
To call what Opera has as tabbed browsing is a bit misleading. It's a Multiple Document Interface, windows within the program. I can minimize or arrange every page I've got open. Nothing better than using this with Small Screen Rendering. That way I can have all of my frequently updated sites all lined up vertically. Nobody has that in a browser as far as I know of.
Using Opera, checking Secunia right now. Hmmm, that's interesting. Firefox, extremely critical, 5 out of 16 advisories unpatched. Maybe I should check Opera. Oh, ha, 0 out of 35. Maybe I should stop paying for a browser, obviously Open is the way to go. Thanks for showing me the light.
Although, quite honestly, I do like Firefox, just don't use it all that often.
Actually, judging by his height and build, I wouldn't call him overweight. And yes, von Tezchner is such an American name. I have yet to meet an American who was born in Iceland, and is a Norwegian citizen.

not just explorer.exe, but also IE. Microsoft plans on eliminating all malware!

Now I can leach off of all my neighboor's networks. We thought American's not using the wep or wap was bad now...just you wait.

Actually, I think this would fall under "Stuff that matters".
I know a lot of nerds who won't ever be cuming. Not even in september
Yeah yeah
Since we're speaking of Opera 8, I can zoom any image I'd like, not just text. That image blows up real good.

down for me, too. But GWA seems to be working still. A great disturbance, to be sure.

I figure he's going to swim from the Norwegian Embassy in Iceland, go to his mum's house, then swim to the US Embassy. Like this: http://people.opera.com/nicolasm/opera_ch05.svgz
