    No, those are the parking lights, and it's illegal in many states (including mine) to drive with them on. Daytime running lights are headlights that are on when the car is on.

    It's impossible for anybody to control it or to use it to spy on everybody, that's what's "wrong" with it. Companies want to be able to control it and watch people on-line.

    I'm so glad you're not the one in charge. What's the point of making Linux just like Windows? Haven't you heard of ReactOS? http://www.reactos.org/ -- This is where the "just like Microsoft" attitude belongs.

    It's usually only their first language if they have deaf parents. Hearing parents usually don't learn to sign and instead force them to learn ORAL English, which doesn't usually work since they can't hear it.

    Not usually. Parents of deaf children usually opt to force them to speak rather than to sign.

    I'm not even a programmer, and I use Linux on a daily basis for everything, and I don't have a single Windows installation (or a Mac). It IS already good enough for people who are willing to accept the differences.

    That said, most people panic because the names of the programs don't include "Microsoft" or "Adobe" in them... because it's different. They don't WANT to learn.

    RMS says it's OK for the open-source movement to use the GNU GPL, but it's designed for the free software movement.

    It's pretty easy to extract the text from a PDF as well, so sending spam in that format makes it filterable by things like SpamAssassin--just run them through pdf2txt or something similar.

    In my physics class, we used slugs instead of lbm when a problem was using the imperial units.

    Why do countries that use SI measure mass instead of weight? Weight is the measure of how hard gravity pulls on something, defining how heavy it is.

    It's not our fault--it's the law's fault. Go blame the megacorps who file stupid patent claims to lock us all out and prevent reverse-engineering. Thank the DMCA for that as well, which forbids circumventing DRM just to watch it on our Linux machines.

    We'd be MUCH further ahead if this legal nonsense wasn't stopping us from shipping open-source code to play this format with our operating system.

    Unfortunately, though, computer non-experts fear Macs because they're not Microsoft. People have been brainwashed to believe that the Microsoft way is the only way they can learn. Too bad for other operating systems, though--they can't win converts with the majority of computer users thinking "it's too hard to use anything non-Microsoft!"

    HELL NO. I know several girl geeks, and over half of them are Linux users. My girlfriend even wants to learn it. And I know a lot of guys who just don't have a single clue how to work a computer. It's people like you who scare the girls away, not the complexity of computers.

    The truth is that geeks come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and both sexes.

    Apparently your experience in the real world is limited.

    I don't see why hibernation support is that important anyway--I am perfectly fine with shutting down my laptop instead of putting it into hibernation.

    Another answer: Use Glipper on GNOME or Klipper on KDE. They show system tray icons and hold the most recent things you have copied using either method (this is configurable) and let you pick past items.

    And I might add that all the people I, a guy, have shown Linux to that actually switched to it were female? I've never converted another guy, but I have convinced 3 female computer geeks (they were into computers before I knew them, that is). Just because a guy shows them Linux and helps her with problems doesn't mean it was 100% his doing (I certainly can't take the credit for anything other than the demonstration). Most female Linux converts were computer geeks who simply didn't know Linux existed before.

    But if you must, go live in your stupid fantasy world. Don't expect to get very far, though, if anywhere.

    I'm not a developer, nor are any of my friends, yet I use Linux ONLY and have managed to get three of my friends to do so. And I must say that administering a Linux system and programming on one are two completely different skills.

    I switched from Kubuntu/Ubuntu to Fedora and found that Fedora is much easier to maintain. :D
