I have a BA in Fine Studies (along with a Acc. in Computer Science) and I can tell you with 100% certainty that video games are art. Art is at it's most basic level the conveying of an idea or ideas through a craft (simplified statement). This doesn't mean that all video game are high art and in fact I'm not sure any meet that standard but they are art. It is fair to compare them to films because it's popular art, and it's fair to say that many games are the Art equivalent of Men in Black II. But there are a good number of games which convey a number of great visual, emotional, and cultural ideas.
Having working on PCM audio recording there is a few things I want to point out.
1. Studios don't record in 24Bit. They use a 32Bit float to avoid clipping. Once the file of normalized it can be converted to a 24Bit int. It's a small point because it doesn't really change the quality but it's good to know.
1. The only reason to ship audio above 40KHz in to allow room for a lowpass filter to cut anything above 20KHz. 44100Hz doen't leave a lot of room for the cutoff and that's why 96000KHz is nice. Anything above that is useless to the listener and can only be useful in production.
I could go on about 16bit Vs. 24bit and sampling rates in PCM audio but I don't think people would care.
Better than Mpeg 2 they say? Well I should hope so. And AVC Baseline isn't great. They're clearly making some crap/free encoder so that they can start charging more $$$ for their good ones. The only issue for them is that Google/Xiph have good ones that will always be free. If MPEG tries to force this new standard people will move to VC8 which has been around for some time.
The Cranberry DiamonDisc is a 1000 year option already on the market. They aren't cheap but they should come down in price if they're able to get a enough costumers to bring the supply up.
Yes. The 360 is to remain the only system with Netflix built in. Netflix got around the issue with the PS3 because the PS3 Netflix disc uses BD-Live tech and will work in any blue-ray player not just the PS3. I imagine that Wii version is on disc because they can't break their deal with Microsoft being the only system with Netflix built in.
I've found that HP makes very linux friendly printers. Every HP printer/scanner I've setup with CUPS automatically worked as soon as it was plugged in. Though you might not want any Greenpeace people to see you buying it:-P

They still use the m16 in some cases, yes. But the M4 carbine in currently the primary rifle. Even that is up for replacement now, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individual_Carbine_Competition
I hope he wins the Ignoble Prize. I think it would be a fitting honor. http://improbable.com/ig/
Lazarus is a fun IDE/RAD if you don't mind using Object Pascal, which I don't mind. http://www.lazarus.freepascal.org/
Opps. cut myself off. I was about to say: Though later models were just software with limited compatibility.
The first Gen PS3s had PS2 hardware in them so that wasn't just a software switch. Though la

486MHz? You mean an Intel 486?
