the logic of just making a p2 smaller via newer tech isn't right.. some things shrink and some things don't.. also you have to look at the timming issues for the paths..
then you have to figure out how to stick them all on one die.. and have to talk to each other..
and while you can make somethings smaller.. what about the cache...
a video card doens't have to fit in a 1-2 in ^2 area.. it can be a full length ATX card with GB's of fast ram and multi core specilized proccessors..
a CPU.. like intel and amd have to support a very very very large instruction set and combinations.. a GPU doens't.. it has a smaller set mainly centered around floating point units and it has many of these..
if you try to run a thread on a GPU where each request depends on the answer from the previous the CPU will win.. if you have 50 diffrent calcs you need done that GPU will win..
personaly i think the cell would work better than a GPU for this type of work.. IF they can ever get a good compiler for it..
the "only thing missing" in my mind.. is a god damn tunner.. if for that price it had a TV tunner card on it i would be first in line no doubt about it.. - that is why i havn't picked up a mini yet.. i can't seem to find a good tunner..
you would be suprised.. i have seen places where the admins desoder the usb ports on computers before alowing them into the work place.. but then.. in thoughs areas you don't get net access either..
that is what the guy to invented the bullet proof vest did..
he made it and no would would buy it.. so he video taped him self shooting him self in the gut.. and sent the tape to the police departmnets - and well we all know how well that worked out...
hell i would take a bullet to have that credit to my name
that is me.. i wrote code for a while but was mainly a sys admin - got a job that now i write code all day.. decided to go to school for it.. on one of the asignments the prof docked me for using a regex for finding links in pages instead of a fsm - because he didn't teach them in class.
Your right some compact cameras have good lenses.. i had a Vivatar - the lens was wonderful on it.. it took pictures i never thought a 2.1 mp camera could. but then it died on me so i got a rebel tx.. spent weeks finding a lens i liked for it.. got a sigma 18-125.. ho so much better.
the sensor size makes alot of diffrence but when you get to the dSLR's that realy isn't the worrie as all of them have good sensors.. the worrie is the lens... while i like my sigma i some times use a friends canon lens.. it is a night and day diffrence.. but he paid 600$ where i paid 200$ for the lens..
HT is an amazing tech. I know it is simplistic and in reality anything that takes advantage of SMP runs slower on HT than with out it.. but the nice thing about HT is that you can always get a second thread command through when a thread locks up and stops responding..
if you have a single threaded program that locks up you can always get commands to kill that thread via the second thread path via HT..
I always run HT on any cpu I have that supports it. mainly for the ability to always kill threads that might get locked up..
when you look at it from the perspective to stability it is a wonderful thing.
that is an intresting thoguht.. i always can seem to point to north.. i figured it was just being aware of my enviroment, while i know alot of people that can't figure out which way the sun will rise from.
the firmware upgrade would be for the HD-DVD players not the normal DVD players.. that is alot easier to do as there realy arn't that many out..
if the disk conforms to DVD standards then you don't need an update.. the update would be for the HD players to not reconize it as a standard dvd and to see past it to the HD layer
i could see it in upscale higher profile retail stores - just to prevent someone from gettign a job there and then slowly rip them off to pay of dept..
"NVidia's current market cap: US$ 10.83B"
to control it they only need $5.42B

stack trace?????
funny.. that never stoped the riaa for going after the p2p networks..
Alright guys.. i got the cat5... can someone lend me a rack and find his address....
"Jennifer Lopez might starve and die" heh , heh... now i would pay to watch that...

I agree with you.. But if you are going to be grading someone directly on it then you need to state to use a FSM..
the project did not say you had to do it a certin way.. only that you had to do it and that it worked.
if it had said "Use a FSM" then the prof would have been right but it didn't so it pissed me off

some bars/areas in NC will not let under 18 in even with a parent after a certian time..

personaly i am waiting for that lens that uses micro lens' so that you can do the focusing in software. http://graphics.stanford.edu/~renng/
I am wondering why this is news.. i mean realy... did anyone not thing the Rebel TX would be #1
$ for $ it is the best one out there..
ahh so tempting.... it is like you are just making funny faces at the prompt..
till at least --- it starts making funny faces back at you....
I have heard this argument before.. and i am supprised it hasn't been twisted to visual memory.
the fact that you can remember anything is because you made a copy of it..
"whether mud is entices kids imaginations better than a PS3"
now would that be playing a PS3 or visulizing it's existance?
i could see visulizing it being far more taxing to the mind....

well damn

very true.. you might want to look into getting a commercial wireless link.. i think AirBand will set them up for a decent price.
I am confused.. you can afford citrix license but not a leased line???
yea.. v.90 and kflex... lucky that hey both got adopted but v.90 was the most wide spread.
kflex tried to rush to market.. but i personaly think it was USR that made v.90 stick
i miss USR.. they made great stuff till 3com bought them and then cut them down........
